Untitled[edit]

As a band member, I'd like to ask how we should be categorized. Is it melodic death, symphonic death (as mentioned here at the moment) or something completely different? Personally, I'd like to call our music "versatile melodic extreme metal" but that's not really a genre, not even a proper categorization. However, I'm not into the whole categorization thing, so it's up to you ppl :).

First off its plain obvious that your not a member of the band, because they have already turned around on several occasions and said 'We are Power Metal/Death Metal band'. Thus, due to the fact the music is Symphonic Death Metal, thats where the label lies. Leyasu 15:45, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We've never said "we're power/death metal", definitely not (can you tell me the page that says so?). As the front page of our website says, we (well, at least I) would like to call our music "melodic extreme metal" and nothing else. There's not much wrong with Symphonic Death, but that's only a part of the deal. We've many songs that have nothing to do with the "symphonic tag.
Stop referring to yourself as 'we' when your not a member of the band, its embarresing for yourself. The music of the band is Symphonic Death. End of. This will not be changed to meet some non-existant genre of some fan who is stupid enough to even try to act like they are a member of the band. Ley Shade 12:39, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Does this prove I'm a member of the band? http://eternaltears.info/wiki.html ... I just wanted to start up a conversation about the style of the band, but.... Well, never mind, get the forthcoming album once it comes out, the tag "symphonic death metal" is actually quite a nice tag to describe it.
First look up what 'Extreme Metal' is on the big list. Then look up what Symphonic Metal is. Also, no, it doesnt prove squat. Ley Shade 15:32, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have an impression this discussion isn't getting anywhere. What I wanted was a nice & open discussion on what kind of metal we play. http://eternaltears.info/wiki.html
I have given u the tools to understand. Read Melodic Death Metal, and Symphonic Metal, to understand easily. Ley Shade 16:51, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone apparently altered the genres to "Viking Metal", which EToS, obviously, is not...or doesn't sound like it, at least. I trimmed off Viking Metal, since it was probably vandalism anyway. How do you feel about people calling EToS goth metal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.46.187.214 (talk) 22:03, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Viking metal[edit]

Their singer (Veteläinen) real sounds like a typical viking/black metal singer.

Genre[edit]

Etos not played only melodeath or thrash:

  • 1. Industrial (D.W.N)
  • 2. Industrial metal (Beyond the Fantasy)
  • 3. death metal/doom metal (demos under the name of Andromeda)
  • 4. Death metal (The Seven Goddesses of Frost)
  • 5. Folk-influenced Melodic black metal (Bard's Burial and Sinner's Serenade)

Etos really does not never played thrash metal. The band are evolved from Industrial (First two demos) to death/doom metal (Andromeda) and from there into typical death metal (TSGOF) into black metal (Bard's Burial and Debut) and from black to melodic death metal (VildaMannu and Chaotic Beauty) and now they are evolved from these genres into somekind of Blackened Symphonic metal (especialy something that sound like the Dimmu Borgir's newer stuff). They played melodic death only on Vilda Mannu and Chaotic Beaty. Listen to vocalist voice and you will see the difference from typical melodic death.

Your list has a wrong order. Andromeda was the first pre-EToS band (1992-1993), then there was DWN (summer 1993) and finally, MDC recorded the demo "Beyond the Fantasy" in late 1993. See this blog entry...

Not melodeath at all[edit]

Sinner's Serenade sounds much more like black metal record. It's obviously not melodeath

What is it about SS that makes it a black metal album?
Probably vocals, tremolo-riffs and atmosphere generally.

C'mon guys, <Eternal Tears Of Sorrow> has nothing to do with <Melodeath> - i've Dedicated my whole life to <Melodeath>, trust me when i say they're not <Melodeath> - they are <Gothic & Symphonic> - someone needs to change the Article, plz. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.98.204.53 (talk) 16:05, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hyperlinks leading to the same page?[edit]

I have noticed that there are hyperlinks that lead to this same page (e.g. Altti Veteläinen and Saivon Lapsi) , I'm not sure what's the use of these? I suggest these be removed. Matthew 13:38, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
