Discussion[edit]

Should update the page. Because in Erin's rematch against Ramsey she got humiliated. --jorgekluney

The bit about her fight against Ali's girl is terribly-written. It sounds more like an excerpt off a dramatic biographical book than an article.

It'd be nice if someone who's better at writing than i am fix this ASAP. --58.108.46.16 12:09, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marriage[edit]

Her Myspace says that she's divorced but I haven't found anything to support this. Can someone help out? (MgTurtle (talk) 00:02, 7 February 2008 (UTC)).[reply]

The marriage was annulled and Erin herself had previously removed that section from the Wiki article. It was added back at some point, though I'm not really sure why because the part about the marriage linked to Erin's website as the cited reference and she is the one who took the section out.

Further, I spoke with her about a week ago regarding her upcoming fight and she mentioned that she'd seen that her Wiki page had been updated. She didn't understand why the marriage part was back again because she'd removed it before, and she wasn't particularly happy about it.

It's an inaccurate reference to an annulled marriage (not a divorce), so there's really no point in listing it. I told her that I'd remove it (again) and I did. FemaleMMAFan (talk) 09:05, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The marriage or the annulment should be on here since some people may remember that they were on the MSNBC show as a married couple and may want to know what happened. It is part of her page and should be on here corrected.(MgTurtle (talk) 18:29, 26 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

Added corrected info them appearing on the MSNBC show along with accurate info about the annulment. This is part of her life and should be listed since this is an encyclopedia with facts about people's lives.(MgTurtle (talk) 19:00, 26 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

The wording is way better now, so that should be fine. The reference that you cited for Warrior Nation was not displaying properly at the bottom of the page, though I am not sure why. It magically fixed itself when I retyped it. Strange. FemaleMMAFan (talk) 02:49, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Hope everything is better now that it's correct.(MgTurtle (talk) 12:30, 27 October 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

Personal life section[edit]

Can we add back the personal life section now?Just wondering. (MgTurtle (talk) 12:18, 31 December 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

I think it's safest to leave it out. Does it add anything to the knowledge of the subject? No - the subject is a professional boxer, and anything else about her outside her key claim to notability (i.e. boxing) has attracted at the very most marginal attention in reliable sources. The fact that the subject does not want it there (noting what our policies say on the issue), given its lack of value to the article, is a reasonable enough reason to exclude it. It's kind of a situation of "do unto others what you would have done unto you." Someone once explained BLP in three words - "do no harm" - and I think that should be our aim.
Note of course that the reasons that apply in this situation don't apply generally to every situation. The marginal level of reliably sourced interest in the non-boxing stuff is a big factor - were this headline news, like say the Tiger Woods stuff, then would be a different matter. I think Orderinchaos has hit the nail on the head here. I'd like to add that while the text in the article was neutral, there is a problem with the sourcing, which does not rise to the standards required for WP:BLP. The reference used to verify her first marriage was particularly problematic, given the content and that it is largely rehashing material from unreliable gossip source TMZ.com. This bears even more consideration in light of WP:NPF: she is certainly notable enough for an article and has coverage within her field, but she is not likely to be "generally well known", and we should be particularly careful not to inadvertently become the source of dissemination of "material that may adversely affect a person's reputation". --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:07, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. What about adding information about her second marriage? They train together at the same gym.Just wondering.(MgTurtle (talk) 19:25, 31 December 2009 (UTC)).[reply]

If there are reliable sources for it (the one we had was also not quite up to WP:BLP standards for private matters) and if there is wide publication (per BLP's provisions about the privacy of spouse names), then that would be fine. If her personal website (which isn't loading for me) verifies her marriage, it can certainly be referenced, but some consideration needs to be taken as to whether or not her husband's name should be included, even if published there. In the case of marriages, there are actually two individuals to whom BLP applies: the subject and the spouse. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:11, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your cooperation MgTurtle - that reads quite acceptably now I think. Orderinchaos 13:14, 3 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
