Schism?[edit]

Is Schism really the appropriate term as used in this article, furthermore for a section header title? I don't think that's the term being used by ECUSA for the former diocese leaving the church. --Eddylyons (talk) 23:28, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The original diocese (or as others would say, the majority of the members of the original diocese) is now a part of another church, the Anglican Church in North America, which was founded with other dioceses and churches in the US and Canada which have left ECUSA and the Anglican Church of Canada. Don't know what more qualifies as schism. I would agree that "schism" is probably not the best section title as most readers would not know what that word means. Stop the pro-ECUSA bias[edit]

This diocese was created in 2008 by people who disagreed with the majority view of the previous diocese. To say anything else is just plain to ignore the reality of the situation.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:30, 26 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A majority of members chose to leave the ECUSA.[edit]

A majority of the members of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh chose to leave the Episcopal Church of the United States and formed an entity which is now known as the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh. Per page 4-5 in the court order of the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County listed here http://www.episcopalpgh.org/docs/courtorder100609.pdf "The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America did not cease to exist when the defendants chose to withdraw." The current Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh is the same continuing entity that was formed in 1865. Iron Sun 254 (talk) 06:14, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
