Kate vs. Catherine[edit]

I went ahead and reverted the change of this page name from referring to "Catherine Middleton" back to "Kate Middleton." A similar discussion was had at Talk:Wedding dress of Kate Middleton#Naming?, and the consensus there was that since she was commonly known as "Kate" at the time she wore the dress, that is the name we should use. I believe that applies even more to this page, since it was even further before she got married and became "Catherine" publicly (in fact, we could argue if she really is known as that presently, but that's not really the point here). So basically, I think we should stick with calling this page "Engagement announcement dress of Kate Middleton," per the talk page on her wedding dress and per WP:COMMONNAME, unless someone has a compelling argument to the contrary? Also, as an aside, references should not be edited to say "Catherine" if they are in fact titled with "Kate", even if we do end up changing the page name. Thanks. --Zoeydahling (talk) 06:12, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is still an outstanding issue to be fixed, shall we make the change User:Zoeydahling? Shameran81 (talk) 22:58, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move: Engagement announcement dress of Catherine Middleton --> Engagement dress of Catherine Middleton[edit]

The event the dress was worn at was a press photocall to mark the engagement of Middleton to Prince William, not an official or public declaration of the engagement, that had been announced a month earlier according to the article. "Engagement dress" of Catherine Middleton is also more succinct in terms of the subject matter. A wordier alternative could also be "Engagement interview dress".--Bettydaisies (talk) 01:06, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
