Removal of Page Name Addition[edit]

Hello, this is Infinity Warrior. It seems that the article here has an unnesscary addition to the title '(died 1624)'. To make the article more professional, I suggest that it be removed. Any questions or comments? Go to my Talk Page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Infinity Warrior (talkcontribs) 17:35, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is already an article named Edmund Ludlow, so the the title is appropriate.
I see that, but instead of giving the date that he died, state his profession, or what he was best known as. I understand that Edmund Ludlow was a politician as well, but (died 1624) doesn't sound correct for an article title. Is there any other thing you can distinguish him from the other Edmund? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Infinity Warrior (talkcontribs) 04:23, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Distinguishing people of the same name by their date of birth and/or of death in biographical articles is quite common. See, for example, the Oxford DNB and its predecessor the Old DNB. I'd change it to "(d. 1624)" though. --Alex Craven (talk) 00:05, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sir Henry Ludlow[edit]

I've corrected the lines about Sir Henry Ludlow and his son Edmund, which were the result of a misreading of the History of Parliament text. Sir Henry was the eldest son of Sir Edmund by his second wife, Margaret, making Edmund Ludlow the regicide the grandson of Sir Edmund Ludlow. --Alex Craven (talk) 00:06, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Alex - I have been churning out bio's on early 17th century MPs, and as you mark this as an area of interest any checks and improvements will be most welcome. Some of them are single sourced on HOPO and could benefit from filling in from other sources - eg VCH. They are listed by election - for example List of MPs elected to the English parliament in 1621. Sorry, I've only just noticed this (sorry, I don't check back on my edits very frequently). When I get a chance, I'll certainly look at the Wiltshire MPs and add links to VCH or other sources I might easily put my hands on. I might also be able to help with Lancashire MPs. By the way, Margaret, called here the widow of Thomas Howard, is not mentioned in the article about him. --INS Pirat (talk) 10:54, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
