Comments[edit]

Prose[edit]

  • and businessperson — how about "businessman"?
  • Thank you for this suggestion! I have modified this to businessman accordingly. -- West Virginian (talk) 22:43, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • as the 12th Attorney General of West Virginia — my understanding of MOS:JOBTITLE says that 'Attorney General' should be lowercased
  • ran as a Republican — we were already told in the first para that he was a member of the GOP
  • While Rucker was at an early age, he and his family relocated to Lewisburg in Greenbrier County — how about "During his early years, Rucker and his family relocated to Lewisburg in Greenbrier County"?
  • in which Rucker shot and seriously injured Beirne v. Rucker allegedly fired the first shot, breaking Beirne's wrist (emphasis mine) — is it a fact, or just a claim that he shot.
  • Per the news articles, this is a fact and not a claim, so I have modified the sentence accordingly. -- West Virginian (talk) 22:43, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rucker was arrested and bailed after the duel; however, when Beirne's condition worsened, Rucker was rearrested and jailed — can break into 2 sentences removing the semi-colon
  • of the Flat Top Monitor Republican newspaper — How about "of the Flat Top Monitor, a Republican newspaper"?
  • Rucker took a great interest in politics — Do we need to mention great. Even I take "great interest in politics"
  • as the Republican candidate — as their candidate
  • At the start of Rucker's term — Replace 'Rucker's' by 'his'
  • I linked Wheeling earlier so as to avoid the two links being side-by-side. -- West Virginian (talk) 22:43, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Though I like {{inflation}}, I feel that there are a lot of "equivalent" in "Attorney general" section. Try to reduce few
  • "quiet and unpretentious affair." — the prose does not make clear where this quote comes from. Who said it?
  • at 5p.m. — add {{nbsp}} between 5 and 'p.m.'
  • Rucker was survived by — Can we rephrase. I'd expect this wording more in an obituary or news article than a encyclopedia article.

  • "Explanatory notes" could be a separate level-2 section
  • " pp. 12 & 38" - should be a comma

That is it. Excellent article, well cited, properly written, almost a GA! Putting on hold. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 19:29, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
