Year of birth[edit]

Some confusion here? Soccerbase has 1990. Any other references for any other year as it keeps getting changed to 1989?--Egghead06 (talk) 20:31, 4 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's 17 October 1989 - see https://twitter.com/dwightgayle/status/258477013424279553 The Wilky Bar Kid (talk) 08:17, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Someone had better tell Palace then! - see http://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/article/holloway-delighted-with-gayle-deal-892829.aspx ......................--Egghead06 (talk) 05:37, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Its 20 October 1990 - http://www.footballsquads.co.uk/eng/2013-2014/faprem/cpalace.htm--Egghead06 (talk) 22:07, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
His birth was registered in 1989, meaning it's impossible he was born in 1990... Mattythewhite (talk) 22:18, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Is that not the specific type of detail covered in WP:BLPPRIMARY?
Since it provides conclusive evidence he was born in 1989 I'm inclined to ignore the rules in this instance. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are we sure its him? Palace on their own website [1] have 1990?--Egghead06 (talk) 22:47, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Could an e-mail be sent to the people who run Palace's website? Seeing as his birth was registered in 1989 and he's stated himself he was born in 1989 I can't see it not being correct. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:51, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Sky Sports book (Rothmans) shows a third date - 20 October (not 17 October) but 1989!--Egghead06 (talk) 23:16, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Guys, official facebook page of Dwight Gayle (a few of my school friends are friends with him) and it is 17/10/1989 can send a screenshot if necessary or view his official facebook. If it was 1990 why would both his twitter and facebook run and edited by him have 1989? Something seems to be an issue here, especially as both Bishops Stortford and Dagenham and Redbridge sites have 17/10/89 User:leeworrow-leeworrow (talk) 14:33, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes there is a case for including both because we don't know which is correct. Soccerbase, Football sqauds.co.uk and his own club's website have 1990. Facebook, Twitter (!!) and an old Daggers reference show 1989, plus a primary source of Findmypast. I did include both on one occasion until someone decided Twitter held the truth!! --Egghead06 (talk) 20:14, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Twitter post stating 1989 was by the man himself, for info. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:25, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Twitter is a primary source and the same applies to it as any - WP:BLPPRIMARY applies.--Egghead06 (talk) 05:03, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.cpfc.co.uk/team/player-profile/index.aspx?playerid=471855&tcmuri=898235 now gives the correct DOB — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leeworrow (talkcontribs) 16:27, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, this talk page doesn't look like it was read by the anonymous user who changed the birth year again today. What we have here is an overwhelming majority of 17 October 1989 instead of 1990 as this still gets changed today. This can only be taken care of by Newcastle United who must have the correct DOB through the paperwork that he did while completing the transfer. p.s. the Crystal Palace website I have having trouble with so for now I cannot prove what DOB he has.
