I read in a travel book about Tenerife (spanish island): The Dwarf Cavendish variety cannot be exported due to EU export regulations - can someone explain why???

it says majority bananas are taken by Spain?. - does this mean that this banana can be exported from the canary island to mainland spain, but not beyond the EU?

First bananas on the Canary Islands[edit]

This article states, that the Cavendish bananas, that are currently cultivated on the Canary Islands, were brought by Portugese merchants from Africa. This is a contradiction, as Cavendish bananas aren't originally from Africa, they are originally from Chatsworth house. FrillDragon (talk) 15:12, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
