HRE[edit]

Was the duchy actually included within the Holy Roman Empire after the Partitions of Poland? My understanding is that the borders of the empire gradually decreased from the Middle Ages (Switzerland, Netherlands), but did not increase, even when imperial states acquired new territories, such as Bütow and Lauenburg.
