Arms of mains[edit]

I have seen them elsewhere with the chief azure and usual three white stars not these blue stars. Not sure where this description came from. Swollpert (talk) 04:02, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The arms of Douglas of Mains were not registered with the Lord Lyon King of Arms until 1672, however it was known to have been used for many years before that date.
The Arms for the Cadet Branch of Mains are as follows;
Argent a Fesse Chequy Gules and of the first between three Mullets in Chief Azure and a man's Heart in base proper (Source: The Heraldry of the Douglases: G.H. Johnston) Shipsview (talk) 14:23, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Shipsview; if anyone cares to search for that book online, there are scanned copies available. The Douglas of Mains arms are shown on plate VII, opposite page 90. Quite different from most of the other arms on the same page. Wikiwayman (talk) 21:03, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Duke of Douglas had a daughter named Isobel Douglas with Jane Edmonds[edit]

This one of a number of speculative theories about the origins of a woman known as Isobel/Isabella/etc Douglas and has been taken from a document listing these concepts. It is not fact. Shipsview (talk) 15:27, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
