School Motto[edit]

The motto of the school is "Virtus et labor" and not "Virtus et scientia". I have made the necessary changes. Ambar Chatterjee —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.146.101.26 (talk) 10:43, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edits to this article[edit]

There have been a number of new editors arriving here who have removed large portions of this article with no edit summaries and failed to copyedit the remaining text for coherence. This article definitely needed some pruning and copyediting, but doing it that way was very unconstructive. I have since pruned the article but re-added some of the removed information, added references, and copyedited it extensively. The section on the church still needs pruning. I suspect some of these new editors have been slashing out parts of the article indiscriminately as some sort of "payback" for the recent pruning and copyediting of Don Bosco Bandel, which had even worse problems. See also this incident. Please do not disrupt Wikipedia to make a point. If you are alumni of Don Bosco Bandel, I strongly suggest you concentrate your efforts on finding reliable, independent sources for that article. It currently has none.

Note also that I have removed the entire list of 3 "Notable alumni". This newspaper article quotes Ravi Shukla as saying he attended Don Bosco Park Circus. This book states that Babul Supriyo attended Don Bosco Bandel, and I can find no verification whatsoever, that Laxmi Ratan Shukla attended Don Bosco Liluah (note that his Wikipedia article is entirely unreferenced). Voceditenore (talk) 10:09, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please note that the source for Ravi Shukla attending Don Bosco Park Circus, and not Liluah is incorrect. I believe the source in question makes an understandable mistake of translating Kolkata into Park Circus. The correct information can be seen on his official website
  • I'm currently not finding anything about Babul Supriyo in the book you stated. Could you please give the exact location too? TheOriginalSoni (talk) 11:34, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Re Ravi Shukla, I half-suspected that might be the case. I'll re-add referenced to his official website. Re Babul Supriyo, apologies, I put the wrong book link. It's Stop Not Till the Goal is Reached by Sanjeev Kumar: "Babul Supriyo, the famous playback singer, was three years senior to me in Don Bosco Bandel." Best, Voceditenore (talk) 13:20, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Re Babul Supriyo, I did find that book. A cursory search for the book's author showed me nothing, and it would be then a weak source. The book itself consisted of nothing but lengths of quote. I'll look for other sources later on, but I strongly suspect he is a student here too. TheOriginalSoni (talk) 16:43, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've re-added Babul Supriyo, as I was able to find his entry [1] in the alumni section of the school's website, which in this case, is probably the most reliable source. I've referenced it to the entry. Voceditenore (talk) 04:58, 16 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Church section[edit]

This was a blatant copyright violation, pasted verbatim from http://www.donboscoliluah.org/pages/parish?PHPSESSID=f148b62af624e52d9889a32147fcf98a.

I have replaced it with a brief two sentence description, which is frankly all that is needed. Even if it hadn't been copyvio, there was way too much extraneous detail about the parish activities which have nothing to do with the school itself. Voceditenore (talk) 14:52, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
