Nickname[edit]

How did he get his nickname? 71.205.170.70 (talk) 21:53, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Second. I'd like it if someone could explain this origin. Chachilongbow (talk) 08:23, 19 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please explain or correct[edit]

In the first sentence of the part about Rivers' playing career I found this: 'moving into the starting lineup due to injury'. How could he play in the starting linup if he was injured? Shakurazz (talk) 12:48, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photo caption error[edit]

The metadata contains a correct new caption for the updated photo, but this text is not showing up live; thus, current caption is incorrect. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.70.117 (talk) 20:12, 18 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Los Angles Clippers[edit]

Today, June 24, 2013, Doc Rivers was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for a 2015 first-round pick. He will replace Vinny Del Negro as the coach of the Clippers. Someone should change that page and add that information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.63.220.2 (talk) 11:11, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It is not official. DaHuzyBru (talk) 15:32, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not official until either the NBA, the Clippers, the Celtics, or Doc announce it. EPX2 (talk) 23:29, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

During the time that Doc Rivers played for Marquette, the team was known as the Warriors, not the Golden Eagles. That change came much later, in the late '90s, much to the chagrin of many Warriors alumni. 97.80.93.222 (talk) 03:02, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Bucks hire[edit]

I reverted this again as Wikipedia is not a crystal ball that harbors rumors. The fact the section included mention that no one has confirmed the hiring is the very reason it shouldn't be in an encyclopedia article yet. Keep this out until he's actually hired. --ZimZalaBim talk 02:13, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @The ed17:, it is important to recognize that WP:SPORTSTRANS is an essay, and not a policy. --ZimZalaBim talk 14:48, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
SPORTSTRANS anyways says If anything is to be presented at all,... It doesn't say it must be presented, and any additions are anyways subject to consensus (WP:ONUS).—Bagumba (talk) 15:11, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@ZimZalaBim: Hello! WP:CRYSTAL does not support your position, as that deals with "unverifiable speculation, rumors, or presumptions" (my emphasis). It goes on to say that "It is appropriate to report discussion and arguments about the prospects for success of future proposals and projects or whether some development will occur, if discussion is properly referenced. [...] Predictions, speculation, forecasts and theories stated by reliable, expert sources or recognized entities in a field may be included [...]".
SPORTSTRANS presents a model for including sourced information, satisfying readers who navigate here and expect to see something about what they're reading in the news, without violating any of our policies and guidelines. Re: this edit, that language is meant to signal to readers why we don't present the transaction as a done deal, like so many in the media often do. So in my view it's helpful to readers who aren't familiar with our policies/guidelines, but I don't particularly mind how that gets accomplished. Ed [talk] [OMT] 21:00, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
