Untitled[edit]

The section on care and buying probably shouldn't be there. Also, the content of those sections is seen from one owners perspective and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I marked the page as needing cleanup because I lack English skills to make it better or clean it up appropriately. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hrafnkell (talkcontribs) 08:46, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Section "Aquarium Water Chemistry" contains Inappropriate person "you" and how-to advice and opinion. Tagged as such. Further readin of section shows many unverified claims, and in one instance the gem "It is a myth..." If you don't want to perpetuate a myth, don't repeat it, even to negate it. Present facts which explicitly refute the myth and there will be no need to mention it, even in the negative. Mtiffany71 (talkcontribs) 02:15, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As an aquarium enthusiast myself, I can certainly appreciate the time and effort that went into writing the "In the aquarium" section, but it is not appropriate content for an encyclopedic article. It just isn't. It uses inappropriate person - "you" - there are grammatical errors - it makes unverified claims - it references debates specific to and of only limited interest to discus hobbyists. I'm not trying to be mean or rude, it's a well written essay for an online aquarium community, but it's not appropriate for WP. Mtiffany71 (talk) 03:05, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Didn't do it out of spite or malice[edit]

I gave it a few days, came back to the section that I tagged as problematic and saw no corrections. The section "In the Aquarium" was 3000+ words long, and cited but one source, even though that one source was cited five times in the section. It was written in inappropriate person, contained how-to information, and contained sections which would be of interest to only a very narrow audience. I didn't do it out of spite or malice, but I deleted the entire section as it was inappropriate.Mtiffany71 (talk) 18:21, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DISCUS FISH ARE CAPABLE TO SEX CHANGING[edit]

AMAZING DISCOVERY!! DISCUS FISH ARE CAPABLE OF SEX CHANGING BY ITSELF. I HAVE FOUND THAT OUT BY EXPERIENCE. I HAVE A PAIR OF DISCUS AND CONFIRMED AT THE TIME HE WAS PAIRED UP WITH A FEMALE AND SPAWNED A FEW TIMES WITH YOUNG FRY HATCHING SO I KNOW HE WAS A FERTILE MALE DISCUS. LATER ON I TRADED IT WITH A FRIEND OF MINE WHO IS A GREAT DISCUS FISH HOBBYIST AS WELL. HE KEPT THE SUPPOSELY MALE( COBALT BLUE) IN A TANK WITH 4 OTHER MALES (BRILLIANT BLUE/ COBALT BLUE) BUT THE OTHER FOUR MALE WERE SLIGHTLY BIGGER IN SIZE. AFTER SOME TIME THE MALE FROM ME PAIRED UP WITH ONE OF THE BIGGER MALE IN THAT TANK AND THEY WERE SPAWNING AND VERY EVIDENTLY I CAN SEE WHERE THEY ARE SPAWNING THAT THE SUPPOSELY MALE FROM ME WAS THE ONE LAYING THE EGGS TO THE BREEDING CONE. I CAME TO A CONCLUSION THAT DISCUS CAN SEX CHANGE WHEN KEPT IN THE SAME TANK WITH OTHERS OF THE SAME SEX AND THAT ARE MORE DOMINANT OVER IT AND IT TRIGGERS THAT WEAKER ONE OF THE SAME SEX TO CHANGE IT'S SEX. ≤N2K≥ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.3.145.252 (talk) 23:58, 7 December 2013
