The Amplified Ohm[edit]

I used to go there all the time I remember when everyone left for Mt Tam but have no historical data to add about that event. I'd be interested in more feedback about the bands and events

This is new - My band The Amplified Ohm played at Dino & Carlo’s twice in 1967. The second time we played there the band was followed by Creedence.

Name[edit]

The venue used multiple names in publication - the most common appears as Deno and Carlo's, which is why the article was moved. I also added RS citations to support the name change (Lingan, John (2022-08-09). A Song For Everyone: The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Hachette Books. ISBN978-0-306-84670-0; page 323). Kind of a major unsourced BLP change, looked up most refs and google search which show name as Dino Pettuchi, not Deno. Highly suggest self-reverting the move and changes, then follow up with a contested/complicated/controversial WP:RM request--☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 15:56, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Both names were definitely used for this club - I would not assume this was specifically a "BLP" or direct namesake (since he probably isn’t alive) to Dino Pettuchi (a claim which has no RS citation). Also remember that spelling issues in American English were more common with ethnic names of this time period. I did deep clean up of this article and added many new sources. I can assure you that "Deno and Carlo's" was more published, specially towards the end of the club. PigeonChickenFish (talk) 06:10, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 15 December 2022[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

Deno and Carlo'sDino and Carlo's – Article moved (see above) without discussion. This appears to be a BLP issue as well, centering on the name of one of the subjects (Dino vs. Deno.) Unfortunately was not able to find an image with either spelling. Looking through existing references in the article, the owner's name is presented as Dino Pettuchi, not Deno Pettuchi. To confuse the matter, newspaper clippings do show either Dino or Deno. In addition to most of the cites in the article, have a few more:

  • As Dino: Ward, Ed; Gibbons, Billy (2016-09-01). Michael Bloomfield: The Rise and Fall of an American Guitar Hero. Chicago Review Press. ISBN 978-1-61373-331-8.
  • As Dino: "Five Essential Jazz Clubs". www.noirguides.com. Retrieved 2022-12-15.
  • Both, but uncertainly: Lingan, John (2022-08-09). A Song For Everyone: The Story of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Hachette Books. ISBN 978-0-306-84670-0. which was used as a primary ref to move article states "He refers to the venue as Deno-Carlo, perhaps because of John's pronunciation..." followed by "... variations abound, including 'Deno and Carlo's' (Werner, 77) and 'Dino and Carlo's' (Fogerty, 144)
  • Fogerty himself writes it as Dino's: Fogerty, John (2015-10-06). Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music. Little, Brown. ISBN 978-0-316-24456-5.

Thought about making a bold unmove, but would prefer a few more opinions. Respectfully submitted, ☾Loriendrew☽ (ring-ring) 23:50, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
