Experiments of Joseph Gottlieb Kölreuter[edit]

Concerning the experiments of the German botanist Joseph Gottlieb Kölreuter, we need to highlight some facts:

-Firstly, in Germany the D. purpurea exists and can be very common.

-D. purpurea is a highly pioneering plant, which means that its seeds accumulate (in this case, especially carried by the wind) for decades, awaiting an event of soil cleaning to germinate.

-Therefore, it is practically impossible to guarantee that, when sowing Digitalis thapsi in this country, the land is not already full of D. purpurea seeds.
