Production[edit]

Shouldn't there be at least a mention of who made the film ? I get that voice actors are important, but this is more than year's worth of work for animators and other artist at Illumination/MacGuff studio in Paris, and there is no mention of it in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.200.189.8 (talk) 11:46, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

Is there a better picture than what we have? (I like the picture, but we may be able to spark it up a little.) Coolness107 (talk) 01:17, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On http://www.movieposterdb.com/movie/1690953/Despicable-Me-2.html are all posters that have been released so far. The one currently in the infobox is the latest one.--Carniolus (talk) 08:53, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trailer attached to Wreck-It Ralph[edit]

The trailer wasn't attached to Wreck-It Ralph by Disney -- per Disney's digital cinema tech docs, the trailers attached by Disney were for Monsters, Inc. and Oz the Great and Powerful. If you saw the trailer before Wreck-It Ralph (as I did), it was almost certainly placed by the theater. Trivialist (talk) 18:15, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Something Funny[edit]

Alright, the caption under the theatrical release poster says it features 10,400 minions. If they counted that many, then that would be so funny. They actually wasted time on crap like that! xD -Scrat

Miss Hattie [Kristen Wiig], Vector [Jason Segal] and Mr. Perkins [Will Arnett] aren't featured in Despicable Me 2?[edit]

Silas Ramsbottom, the head of the Anti-Villain League has replaced both Miss Hattie, Vector Perkins and his Dad that were in the main villians in Despicable Me 1. and Silas was now the main villian for Despicable Me 2. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.13.25.216 (talk) 17:28, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

And about Miss Hattie?

question[edit]

I have something on my mind. Whatever did happen to El Macho? after his defeat by Fart Gun, I mean. Visokor (talk) 16:02, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding books related to the movie[edit]

I noticed that the article states that seven books were released for the movie, but it only lists six. Does anyone know the seventh book, or if this is a typo? Rhydic (talk) 02:58, 1 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for a French to English translation[edit]

Pierre Coffin talks in this French interview why had Al Pacino left the film. Google translates the article too literally, so it would be great if someone fluent in French would translate the following text. Thanks!

"Il faudrait lui demander les vraies raisons pour lequel il a quitté le film. On suppose qu'il a eu peur du ridicule, son personnage étant plus grand (plus cartoon?) que nature. On avait une scène plus profonde qui en disait plus sur son personnage, mais on l'a retirée pour des questions de rythme. Il a demandé à ce qu'on la remette si on voulait qu'il reste. On a refusé. Benjamin est venu en renfort heureusement et à "doublé" Pacino avec talent. Merci à lui."

--Carniolus (talk) 21:05, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Google translates to this:

"Should ask the real reasons for which he left the film. It is assumed he was afraid of ridicule, his character is larger (cartoon?) Than life. We had a most profound scene that spoke more about his character, but was removed for reasons of rhythm. He asked what if we wanted to furnish it remains. We refused. Benjamin came reinforcement happily and "doubled" Pacino with talent. Thank you to him."

Billion dollar question[edit]

I would be surprised if Despicable Me 2 reached the billion dollar mark, making it the second animated film to do it after Toy Story 3. Do you think it will have a chance? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.38.59.44 (talk) 16:24, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I will review this article. Thank you. Ssven2 (talk) 09:35, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, nice job with the article. Looks good at first glance. Ssven2 (talk) 09:35, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's good to see you here Ssven2. I'll be here addressing all issues and helping the article to get to GA status. Thanks. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 09:47, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

  • Can you reduce the resolution of the images to say (both length and breadth should be between 200-400) please? Ssven2 (talk) 10:06, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done with the images. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:35, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lead[edit]

  • Can you empty the references as per WP:LEAD and describe them in the later headings? Ssven2 (talk) 09:36, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah sure, done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:01, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Plot[edit]

  • "A secret laboratory in the Arctic Circle containing a powerful mutagen known as PX-41 is stolen by a mysterious vehicle using a huge magnet." can be rephrased as "A mysterious vehicle using a huge magnet steals a powerful mutagen known as PX-41 from a secret laboratory in the Arctic Circle." Ssven2 (talk) 09:44, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:43, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • "with his children. Antonio has left Margo for another girl. Gru uses his freeze-ray to freeze Antonio in a block of ice." - that line can be remoced and can simply end with "with his children". Ssven2 (talk) 09:50, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
removed unnecessary material. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:45, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can you find a better synonym for "hand-glides"? Ssven2 (talk) 09:51, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's done, I've wiki-linked it. It's an air sport name, and the word is "hang-glides" not "hand-glides." --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:53, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Cast[edit]

  • "in the first film" can be rephrased as "in the prequel." Ssven2 (talk) 09:54, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 10:57, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Production[edit]

  • "they had started animating the film." can be rephrased as "they had started working on the film." Ssven2 (talk) 10:06, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 15:58, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Release[edit]

  • "yellow carpet" - Can you find a source that states the reason why there was a yellow carpet primere. If not, remove the phrase and just say, "attended the primere." Ssven2 (talk) 10:06, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, I couldn't find the source telling the reason, but I think it was because of "Yellow colored Minions." It's just my thought, but I think we should keep it as it is. There was a yellow carpet there, so it should be kept whether we know the reason or not. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:08, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reception[edit]

Critical Response[edit]
  • "gave the film a 'C'" can be rephrased as "gave the film a C grade" for both Entertainment Weekly and A. V. Club Ssven2 (talk) 10:20, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:38, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Box Office[edit]
  • "n the 100-year history of Universal Studios" can be rephrased as "for Universal Studios." Ssven2 (talk) 10:24, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I think we should keep this one as it is. It tells the accurate fact of the film's gross that it was the most profitable film in the history of Universal. It's an interesting fact. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 16:44, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • "topped the box office for two consecutive weekends" can be rephrased as "remained in the first position at the box office for two consecutive weekends." for both the sections "North America" and "Outside North America". Ssven2 (talk) 10:24, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It's done. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 02:03, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Captain Assassin!: Address these concerns and the article is passed. Ssven2 (talk) 10:24, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Ssven2: Please take a look back at the article and see if anything left. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 02:05, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose is "clear and concise", without copyvios, or spelling and grammar errors:
Has underwent a C/e from WP:GOCE so no issues regarding prose, there were few, I fixed them while reviewing. Quotes use " " and have sources backing them up. So Criteria 1a is good for me.
    B. MoS compliance for lead, layout, words to watch, fiction, and lists:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. Has an appropriate reference section:
    B. Citation to reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are tagged with their copyright status, and valid fair use rationales are provided for non-free content:
    B. Images are provided if possible and are relevant to the topic, and have suitable captions:
  7. Overall: Passed, my queries were met and solved by the nominator.
    Pass or Fail:

@Captain Assassin!: Congratulations, Despicable Me 2 has passed. Ssven2 (talk) 03:16, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's great, thank you Ssven2. --Captain Assassin! «TCG» 03:20, 3 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
