Female

Does anyone think that the 'Desperado' character may actually be a woman? I think there is some evidence to support this contention. Even when he says "Don't you draw the queen of diamonds, boy / She'll hurt you if she's able" -- I think Desperado could be a queen-of-diamonds type woman--that is, a lonely, untouchable beauty. Hence the song's urging young men (i.e. possible Desperado prey) to pick a 'queen of hearts' -- a woman capable of love and openness, unlike the 'Desperado.' I'm probably wrong but I like to think of it this way. HarpooneerX 20:40, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Doubt it, as the album was based on the Dalton Gang. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.177.221.197 (talk) 04:27, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

This is the best divorce album ever!! I drank whiskey and sang along to this album for a month when my first marriage disolved. 64.195.74.166 (talk) 14:58, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Reference to "All By Myself" bonus track are incorrect

The Desperado article includes several references to "All By Myself" as a single from this album. That is a single by Eric Carmen and other than the fact that Bernie Leadon and possibly Glenn Frey performed on it, it has nothing to do with the Desperado album. I'm not sure if it is an honest error or if someone is trying to sabotage the article. All references to it should be removed, at least as far as I know. The section where the FIVE singles from the album is confusing as well, because it references "those two singles". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lewigr (talkcontribs) 23:05, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Untitled

  • Desperado (Eagles album)Desperado (album) – The reason preventing this is the redirect: there is no other album from another band of notability with this title. Consistent with the recent decision for Hotel California (album). Right now the talk page for the article is at the correct place, but the article is held hostage at Desperado (allbum) because of a simple keystroke error. Please assist me in this matter. Thank you. Moved from speedy rename

Survey

  • Note - I realized my error after the fact that there were other albums with the same title, and I tried to move it back unsuccessfully. It's unanimous that the move was in error, so this can be closed.
However, as I pointed out here, there is a lack of consistency when titling this group's albums that are themselves titled after a track on those albums. This album, On the Border, One of These Nights, Hotel California (especially after the recent removal of "(song)" from the song article title) and The Long Run all differ from each other. Why? Why do we not do what was done with Hotel California with, e.g., The Long Run? From The Long Run (song) to The Long Run and The Long Run (album) to The Long Run (Eagles album)? Doc talk 00:00, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
I responded on that topic at Talk:One of These Nights. The basic problem arises when we use ambiguous article titles. We then run into problems if there is some other song or album (or something else) with the same name that was produced by someone else, and when we need to decide whether an album or a song or neither (or something else) is "primary". The result will inevitably be inconsistent across different songs and albums. —BarrelProof (talk) 00:25, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
So if we retitled the articles to "(Eagles album)" instead of "(album)" (the opposite of my mistake on this article): would that not reduce ambiguity? One of These Nights to One of These Nights (Eagles album)? Doc talk 00:49, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes, that would reduce ambiguity, improve consistency (at least for songs and albums), and avoid the need to keep moving things around as new releases appear and popularity changes. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:14, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
I boldly did this, which is probably what I should have done before checking into this article. Doc talk 02:12, 24 August 2013 (UTC)
I'm reverting that, as it appears to be the only article with that title. This request can be safely closed, though you can open a new RM there if you still want that title to be disambiguated. --BDD (talk) 18:12, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Doolin-Dalton/Desperado (reprise)

Henley is certainly in the center in the recording. Who is on the left channel? Who is on the right channel? Is it 3 or 4 voices?
