Disambiguation needed[edit]

The Colorado Rangers, or Colorado Mounted Rangers exist as a volunteer state security force. http://www.coloradoranger.org lists more information, and also some press articles describing their existence. Careful, their dns entry? has been subject to hacking and occasionally you get redirected to a junk computer scan site. 128.138.200.94 (talk) 20:19, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3 weeks have gone by, and nobody seems to be in charge of this page (or willing to discuss). Therefore, I have added notes (albeit in a non-standard way) to the front page listing the alternate use of the term. 128.138.200.94 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:50, 27 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Trademark Respect?[edit]

OK, so first I must give thanks for creating the Colorado Mounted Rangers page for me. But realize that the term "Colorado Rangers" has been a registered trademark of the Colorado Mounted Rangers since 1941 (and not the hockey team that somehow borrowed the term for the 1987 season)

This STUB page should not be biased towards information about the hockey team. If someone wants to know more about said hockey team, they can read the Denver Rangers page. This page should list links to both the Denver Rangers and the Colorado Mounted Rangers, but it makes no historical or logical sense to prefer content from the recent hockey team without content nor consent from CMR.

How does wikipedia handle trademarks? 128.138.200.94 (talk) 21:48, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's an encyclopedia so a trademark doesn't really affect it in the way you think it does, being that it is editorial content it is not subject to trademark laws. As such the Colorado Mounted Rangers are at the most appropriate title since this was also a name for them. And Colorado Rangers redirects to Denver Rangers because as you mentioned they were the same team. At the top of the page we place a link to the other topic incase people were looking for that topic and got the hockey team by mistake. This is how we disambiguate articles when there are only two conflicting names. If there were three or more articles with names that conflicted we would create a disambiguation page, but since there are only two this is not necessary. -DJSasso (talk) 04:55, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Djsasso, thanks for creating the redirect. I think this solution is a proper and acceptable one for all. Cheers! 128.138.200.94 (talk) 16:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
