Untitled[edit]

Why does this article omit Denis Coderre's job as Vice President for Public Affairs for Groupe Polygone in the late 1990s? That seems like a very significant omission. Also, why is there no mention of Coderre's role in the sponsorship scandal? --Chris Thompson 23:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good questions. It seems sponsorship scandal details have been removed from the wikipedia entries of most of the major players.Spoonkymonkey (talk) 00:33, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That comment is from 2006 so I would suspect this page was never update for Sponsorship Scandal details. You'd have to dig through the revision history to be sure. Also, this minister was named but I don't immediately see data beyond an accusation. I'll try and make a few basic edits for the data there is. --Chris Latour (talk) 14:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
updated, comments welcome.

Previous CDS General Rick Hiller (retired) makes some less than faltering observations of this minister in his book "Soldier First" (p.421) but I've not cited books before, not sure how it's done. Also not sure what details to put since the "Dumber than dirt" line just doesn't seem wiki-appropriate. I'll try and come back to this...--Chris Latour (talk) 14:20, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

updated, comments welcome.

Personal life[edit]

Is he really co-conjoint of Chantal Renaud with former Quebec premier Bernard Landry ? The French wikipedia page doesn't mention her. The Google search provides the singer Chantal Renaud as his spouse. A reference might be appreciated. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.176.120.156 (talk) 18:12, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Landry's wife and Coderre's are not the same person, they're merely two people who happen to have similar names (note, for example, that Coderre's wife spells her first name "Chantale" rather than "Chantal") — it's not as though it's so very rare a name that it would be particularly implausible for two different people to have it — and Landry, not Coderre, is married to the singer. Coderre's wife's name is, however, correctly reflected in several legitimate sources about Coderre, so I'll add one. Bearcat (talk) 18:25, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

UFO encounter[edit]

I added Coderre's childhood UFO encounter in an early years section, but my edit was deleted. Coderre appeared on a national TV show on mai 19, 1979 on a program from Radio-Canada called TéléJeans where he expressed his love for astronomy and his UFO encounter at the time. He made a scientific exposé of the encounter and was interviewed for about 2 minutes. A video exists on youtube of the interview. It's also in Radio-Canada archives. Many papers talked about this event in relation to various politicians who had also seen UFO, like Ronald Reagan for example. I believe this information should not have been deleted from the page. I would call this content undue personally. He was 15, and what he did later in life has very little to do with that CBC appearance. Also, I can't find much coverage of it other than on various blogs (not a great source for a BLP like this one). Fyddlestix (talk) 18:36, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Denis Coderre[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Denis Coderre's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "dominionofcanada.com":

  • From William Lyon Mackenzie King: "Commemorative Medals of The Queen's Reign in Canada".
  • From Pierre Trudeau: http://dominionofcanada.com/commemorative_medals/index.html
  • From Jean Lapierre: "Commemorative Medals of The Queen's Reign in Canada".

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 20:05, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

His Worship[edit]

So the title in honorific-prefix was "His Worship" and "the Honourable" together has been listed as his titles since 2013. However, "His Worship" was removed recently by Russellpg (talk · contribs). There was no explanation given. I reverted it after discovering a number of sources that do use His Worship as Coderre's title [1][2][3]. My undo was then reverted by 96.127.254.124 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) with the edit summary "Vandalism", and 'His Worship' removed again.

I personally don't have a problem with the title either way. But to the above editors: it is not appropriate to (1) remove something without explaining it in the edit summary, or (2) revert a valid undo of that action by saying it is "vandalism". Please make use of edit summaries and talk pages to encourage communication so we can collaborate better. You are welcome to start here underneath this comment, explaining why the bold change was necessary. Thanks, seb26 (talk) 01:35, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies - I wasn't looking at the most up-to-date version. His Worship and the Honourable are indeed the right ways of addressing him, as Canadian honorific rules indicate. My apologies again. 96.127.254.124 (talk) 03:35, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

96.127.254.124, that's OK, no harm done, thank you for explaining. Cheers, seb26 (talk) 20:16, 24 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
