Many would context the accuracy of the population estimates that underly this graph, due to significant unreported migration by Zimbabwean, predominantly of wage earning age, to neighbouring Southern African countries as economic refugees. Some reports estimate in excess of 2 million of the 12 million Zimbabweans currently live in South Africa, Mozambique or Botswana.

Actually 'some reports estimate' 4 million Zimbabweans in South Africa. The problem is that you cannot go off media reports. They are exaggerated, and subject to inflation. On the other hand, South Africa had a national census in 2011, in which they counted a total of 1.6 million foreign nationals in South Africa. Clearly, they are not all Zimbambweans. November 2006,
According to an article [1] in the British newspaper, 'The Independent', the current population could have fallen as low as 8 million, a 4 million decrease since the last census taken in 2002. The reason for this precipitous decline is mainly due to the proliferation of AIDS, coupled with the economic disintegration under the Mugabe regime. Average life expectancy for women has fallen to 34 years, where this was just over 65 years only a decade ago. Average life expectancy for men is only barely higher at 37 years. Infant mortality has doubled since the nineties.

There is a lot of nonsense told about Zimbabwe, because they have been the subject of a 10 plus year propaganda campaign, for De Beers to get their hands on the 20% of the world's known diamond reserves in the Chiadzwa and Marange diamond fields. Also, mortality from AIDS is another guesstimate with a massive GIGO factor. To the case of the massively exaggerated immigration of Zimbabweans into South Africa. In 2011, the South African STATSSA held it's 2011 Population Census. In table 3.6 (Table 3.6: Province of usual residence by citizenship), flick out your calculator, there are 1.6 million foreigners in South Africa in total. Clearly, they cannot all be Zimbabweans, so there are fewer than 1.6 million Zimbabweans in South Africa, and the police's 2007 estimate of 1 million (or fewer) Zimbabweans in South Africa [2] seems much more realistic. If you have a better source for the 2 million or 4 million number, please do present it. Also, with South Africa's population at 51.7 million, there are serious doubts about the projections of mortality from HIV/AIDS and national infection rates in South Africa itself. Also, Zimbabwe's ZIMSTAT's 2012 Population Census [4], puts the population at 13 million (13 061 239), which is in line with the data from South Africa.MrSativa (talk) 18:16, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Wrong country stats

To the extent this article relies on data for Cambodia, and not Zimbabwe, it needs to be revised and properly cited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.15.56.193 (talk) 14:25, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
