History[edit]

As to the citation need items: As far as I have read (and cited on the Oregon State Capitol article) the decision was over in 1864 (this article says it was considered in the 1880s) and Dayton was never considered. Additionally, the state just built a new capitol building in 1876 so it would be rather unlikely for the state to consider moving the capitol. The reason Salem is tagged is that ultimately would not be true as the decision was made in 1864. So if this bit is true, it needs a citation as well.
