GA Sweeps: On hold[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing Sweeps to determine if the article should remain a Good article. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a GA. However, in reviewing the article, I have found there are several issues that need to be addressed.

  1. There are a few dead links that should be fixed. The Internet Archive may be able to help.
  2. Although it is not required by GA criteria (so it will not be a requirement for the review), it would be beneficial to add alt text to the image. See WP:ALT for assistance.
  3. The lead needs to be expanded to better summarize the article. For an article of this length, it should be three to four paragraphs. Try and touch on each section to help expand the lead. See WP:LEAD for guidelines.
  4. Throughout the article there are several one or two-sentence paragraphs. Either expand on these or incorporate them into another paragraph to improve the flow of the article.
  5. "August 1991: Embarked on an extensive promotional tour of South East Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taipei and the Philippines." This sentence should be re-written to not just start off with date and colon. A citation should also be added.
  6. "The film was not well received by audiences or critics, with Minogue's performance being described as "not all that convincing"." "not all that convincing" does not need to be in italics, it already has quotation marks around it. Fix the other occurrences within the article.
  7. "In 1990 Dannii Minogue was asked by Queen Elizabeth II to perform at the Royal Variety Show; she sang her latest release "Success"." This needs a source.
  8. Many of the paragraphs open with "in date", especially in the "1996–2000: Girl, presenting, and theatre" section. Try rewording these so that there is more variety and it doesn't sound like a list.
  9. File:Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder.ogg, File:Dannii Minogue - You Won't Forget About Me.ogg, and File:Dannii Minogue - So Under Pressure.ogg need a fair use rationale specifically for her page (use a heading saying "Fair use rationale for Dannii Minogue") explaining why the non-free song samples should be included here.
  10. "Throughout her sister's battle with breast cancer, Dannii had been closely followed by the media, who wanted to know about Kylie's developments." This has been tagged with needing an inline citation since June 2009.
  11. The third paragraph in the "2007–2008: X-Factor, Deluxe Editions, Club Disco and Unleashed" section is unsourced.
  12. "On 23 November, during a live broadcast of X Factor, she broke down in tears and couldn't introduce..." Contractions shouldn't be used in articles unless within a quote, make sure to fix any other occurrences.
  13. "Dannii is also set to return with a brand new single released later this year or next year." What's the status on this? It should also be sourced to avoid speculation.
  14. The first half of the "2009: Return to music, acting, and the The X Factor" is lacking citations for the various paragraphs/statements. The "Awards and honors" should also be sourced.
  15. A few of the citations only consist of a title or url. Expand on these to include details such as author, date, publisher, etc. The citation templates at WP:CITET may be able to help.

I noticed that there was an image request at the top of the talk page, so I asked a few Flickr authors to see if they would be interested in allowing their image to be used in the article. If I get permission, I'll add the image to the page, and you can rearrange it as you see fit. I will leave the article on hold for seven days, but if progress is being made and an extension is needed, one may be given. If no progress is made, the article may be delisted, which can then later be renominated at WP:GAN. I'll contact all of the main contributors and related WikiProjects so the workload can be shared. Once the above issues are addressed, I'll help do a final copyedit of the article since there are other minor issues I can just fix instead of listing them here. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 02:52, 22 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GA Sweeps: Delisted[edit]

The article has been on hold for a week and the issues were not addressed. As a result I have delisted the article as it still has a way to go before meeting the GA criteria. Continue to improve the article, addressing the issues above. Once they are addressed, please renominate the article at WP:GAN. I look forward to seeing the further improvement of the article, and don't hesitate to contact me if you need assistance with any of these. If you disagree with this review, a community consensus can be reached at WP:GAR. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Happy editing!
