Comment[edit]

" Levine Cava, a progressive, has advocated for the protection of the environment." - I am confused why the label progressive is attached to her advocating for the protection of the environment. Didn't know trying to get the poop out of Biscayne Bay was so progressive. Additionally, she never personally identifies as a progressive or does it say so in the article that was referenced for the next sentence. Therefore, I am deleting this portion and suggest that we don't assign labels. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrose.1221 (talkcontribs) 12:06, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure whether or not she brands herself as progressive, but there's this, as well as some news reports of her being targeted by mailers saying that she's "not progressive enough" [1] (that was apparently funded by her opponents: "According to records, True Progressives LLC was established with the same address as originally used by Twenty-Two Metrics LLC, an organization run by Alex Alvarado. Twenty-Two Metrics has since swapped its principal address." [2]. OhNoitsJamie Talk 18:23, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You took the words right out of my mouth as I was typing haha. Also, especially when it comes to politicians, it is important to list their political ideology. For example, someone like Bernie Sanders is a social democrat, while someone like Dick Cheney is a neoconservative. This is because within a political party, there may be wildly different ideologies and interpretations of such. Some of the sources here mention that Cava is left-wing, and she is allied with progressive groups. --Curbon7 (talk) 18:37, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
