Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... DJ Rashad is a known and prolific musician: http://www.factmag.com/tag/dj-rashad/ he just died today and there will be lots of people searching for him on wikipedia. --Njk (talk) 04:59, 27 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

OK. It would've survived speedy deletion anyway, since DJ Rashad easily meets the general notability guide. Thanks for starting the article! — sparklism hey! 11:13, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Gang Membership[edit]

There was an unreferenced section on gang membership that I had to remove, due to a lack of references. It's relevance is questionable considering the notability is related to his musical efforts. I've included it below so maybe someone can shed some light on its validity (spurious clam?). Karst 09:22, 29 April 2014 (UTC)

Rashad was also a member of the smiley D boy faction of the Black Disciples street gang. The smiley d boys were a notorious street gang based out of smiley plaza (now known as south river point plaza) that controlled the west side of Calumet City. Rashad was affected tremendously by the murders of his friends Gerald "G code"Jones and Armond "Mooky D" Harper

Cause of death not confirmed[edit]

All accounts of his death being a blood clot point to the Guardian article (http://www.theguardian.com/music/2014/may/01/dj-rashad-died-blood-clot-not-drugs) and the claim made by Rashad's cousin. According to this article on Pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/news/54956-dj-rashad-cause-of-death-revealed/), Rashad's mother says that this isn't the definitive cause of death, and no official cause of death has been published. This article should reflect that the cause of death is still unconfirmed and that the reports by Rashad's cousin that the drug paraphernalia was only related to marijuana aren't verified. I presume there is going to be an inquest at some point, but that is conjecture. At the moment, the details on the page do reflect a degree of uncertainty. Karst 08:10, 5 June 2014 (UTC)
Cause of death needs to be updated, autopsy reported this as a drug overdose. http://pitchfork.com/news/56222-dj-rashad-died-of-drug-overdose-autopsy-confirms Jabreau (talk) 19:42, 7 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
