Merge into New Media or something else

The article's a stub and from the current description it sounds like it could fit into Generative Art or New Media or elsewhere.

Cyber-anything doesn't mean much, and usually implies the use of computers in the "anything" part. Since computers are used for many things nowadays, cyberarts is an uninformative term. It could refer to the use of Adobe Photoshop or The GIMP or some vector illustration program or whatever.

Cyberart is a term for art that is made for cyberspace. Cyberspace is the information space created by computers hooked to a network. The term comes from a William Gibson novel (I forget which one). Generative art is essentially geometric or sound patterns created by algorythms. It doesn't really have anything to do with cyberspace. The term cyberarts is already going out of fashion as is internet art, web art, browser art and new media art. Of all the terms that stick or are lasting, media art, new media art, digital art and net art tend to be the best.

Cyberarts having a relationship to a virtual realm

I think it would be best to describe cyberarts as a kind of art form that deals with art existing on a virtual space or a kind of network. some examples would be art that exists on servers or inside a computer (Franco & Eva Mattes "Perpectual self dis/infecting machine") or artworks made in Second Life. Yes its a little out of fashion just like how terms like digital and computer art are out of fashion or perhaps to put it more accurately they are 'out of description' or are of limited description. I do think that the all encompassing term would be 'New Media Art' as that truly describes all these new mediums as a departure from the traditional media.218.186.12.251 (talk) 07:05, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
