Band[edit]

Theres a band called crystal castles So? Crystal Castles - The Band —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.192.168.86 (talk) 01:59, 18 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify this conversation from over ten years ago, it is not clear whether the source of the band name is from this game or from the He-Man/She-Ra castle of the same name. Source. Andrzejbanas (talk) 16:41, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Genre[edit]

I don't think Crystal Castles was "retro" at the time of its release in 1983, was it? sneakums 10:34, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The "retro" genre shouldn't even be used since there's no such thing. Pac-man is an action game, The Hobbit is a text-adventure, Zaxxon is a shooter. --Zagrebo 11:19, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further to this I've removed it and replaced it with "action" (which is itself a bit vague, if anyone can be more specific please do). The link didn't even work properly any more since someone had (rightly) removed the "retro" genre from the list of video game types. --Zagrebo 11:22, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

By the same logic as the genre of Crystal Castles is "retro", then the genre of Crysis also is, because at least by 2033, if not even earlier, people will reminisce it with the same quaint fuzzy feeling as they do about Crystal Castles today. JIP | Talk 17:29, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tidy Up[edit]

Tidied up the sentence "Unlike similar games, not only can the player collect gems, but the some of the opponents can as well." DanTheShrew (talk) 09:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by DanTheShrew (talkcontribs) 09:29, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

Would appreciate someone getting an arcade screen grab for fair use illustration of the game. - superβεεcat  08:37, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, but the way it looks the gallery has to go. You're only allowed so many fair use images in an article. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 13:10, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Each image serves a purpose here, though - there is only one image per port (all of which are separate works). In any case, a main image for the arcade version, which this article is primarily about, would probably be more important than the others anyway. - superβεεcat  21:13, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alright - I've gone ahead and used the Galaxian article as a template, as it is a well-established piece. Uploaded the poster using appropriate fair-use rationale. - superβεεcat  21:37, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not in the case of the gallery though, that has to be removed now. They're discouraged by the video game project, violate the fair use policy here, and never pass GAN review. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 01:12, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
New to the project - would you mind pointing me to the policy regarding number of fair use images? Much appreciated - superβεεcat  01:23, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:Non-free content. The exceptions for galleries including non-free images are very rare, and in practice this has never been one of them. Take a look at articles that have passed GAN review for examples on acceptible use of (including number of) non-free images. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 01:51, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What if the images are place for illustrative purposes within the article, rather than as a gallery? I've asked for further guidance here from the project. I think posting clear limits such as what you've suggested would be helpful to new project editors. - superβεεcat  02:11, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I used the gallery as an example. It's a rule for non-free use images period, we can only use a very limited amount. The two in the article is pretty much the standard limit. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 02:28, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've uploaded an arcade screenshot. My understanding is that the previous screenshots were removed because they were in a gallery, showed different ports of the game, and were unnecessary to illustrate the article. The image I uploaded is a single screenshot of the original arcade version of the game. Please let me know if I've misunderstood anything! ✰oaoɪɪ/talk 03:03, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me - just about every arcade article has a poster for the infobox, and a screenshot (or 3) in the body. - superβεεcat  03:05, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
