Cricket scoring[edit]

Please could people make sure they know the rules of cricket before posting the result of the match.

If the second team to bat wins, the result is expressed as "Team 2 wins by X wickets", where X is the number of wickets they have left (10 minus the number they have lost).

If the first team to bat wins, the result is expressed as "Team 1 wins by X runs", where X is the difference in runs between the 2 teams. So, as an example on the actual page, Vanuatu batted first and reached 103 runs (losing 8 of their 10 wickets) in their allotted 20 overs. Papua New Guinea then had a target of 104 to win the match, and they reached this after 18 of their 20 overs, having lost 6 wickets in the process. So, they had 4 wickets remaining at the time they reached the target, and therefore PNG won by 4 wickets, and not by 1 run as appeared on the page earlier. I don´t get the rules since years, so if you can add the right results, that would be great. Kante4 (talk) 12:38, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
