Background section[edit]

A featured article about a military unit generally does not recap in any depth how the country of the unit came into being, what led up to the military conflict during which the unit was formed, or the results of that conflict.

Where historical background is provided, such as in 7th Army (Kingdom of Yugoslavia) or 1st Missouri Field Battery, it is closely focused on the history of the branch of the military from which the unit sprung.

In contrast, the background section of this article mainly airs grievances with Pakistan that are already well covered in the article about the Bangladesh Liberation War. Repeating them in this type of article is abnormal, off-topic, redundant, and creates an undesirable content fork. Worldbruce (talk) 17:28, 30 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
