Notability[edit]

This group currently does not meet notability guidelines. Of the five sources presented, only two mention the group. One is the group's website, thus it does not confer notability. The other is a brief one sentence mention in the newspaper article about a meeting for another group (likely a press release re-hashed by the paper since there is no reporter byline), which means it is a trivial reference and does not confer notability. To avoid deletion, the article needs more third party, independent coverage in reliable sources, such as newspapers and magazines and books (though not self-published). The local paper or even the regional paper would be the place to start. Though in all honesty, a group founded earlier this year likely will not be covered enough to warrant an article on Wikipedia. This group has been properly sourced according to Wikipedia's published guidelines on notability. The notability box was posted in November 2009, and new references to third-party, reliable sources have since been added (Two sizable mainstream daily newspapers, The Daily News in January of 2010, and the Oregonian in February of 2010). Therefore, the notability box should be deleted. Steelhead40 (talk) 13:32, 6 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
