East-West Odd?[edit]

Why is the east-west designation odd? US-101, CA-82, and I-280 are all from San Francisco to San Jose (at least). They run north-south for most of their routes, with only a short east-west route. However, Central, like, CA-237, is a trans-South Bay route running east-west its whole length. ςפקιДИτς 23:42, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Because I can take Central Expressway or US-101 to get to the airport, one is easy-west, one is north-south. It's odd. In the valley we basically work off of a "virtual north-south" axis. This axis is defined by US-101, I-280, and C-82 which are all parallel, as the article says. Of these 4 parallel roads only 1 is east-west. Someone in Sunnyvale wishing to go to Palo Alto would be thinking they need to go "North", but if you come up to G6 at the G2-G6 intersection and see "East" and "West" then it is confusing. It would make more sense to locals if it was labeled "north-south", regardless of how it looks on a map. JakiChan (talk) 02:51, 28 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Declining usage?[edit]

" Central Expressway still acts as an alternate route to US 101 through the west valley, however usage has declined as both freeways are now much larger and more direct routes"

There are no sources for this claim. I personally disagree with it - Central/alma seems much more 'direct' than 101 or 280 (it passes through downtown palo alto, mt view, and sunnyvale). At commute time, the expressway is completely congested. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.71.26.218 (talk) 12:04, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Alma street[edit]

Alma street has a well-deserved reputation as a speed trap ... be advised. -- ProveIt (talk) 18:54, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Table seems wrong[edit]

The table gives the east and west ends of the expressway. However, it is designated "Central Expressway" between the airport and the Palo Alto border. Just because it has traffic lights (like Oregon Expwy, San Tomas Expwy, Montague Expwy, Lawrence Expwy, etc.) doesn't mean it's not an expressway. 198.24.6.168 (talk) 00:25, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
