Update needed[edit]

The article needs update concerning its ownership and operations. Its lead states: "Country Energy is a corporation formally owned by the Government of New South Wales". At the same time, Infobox says that it is a subsidiary of Origin Energy. It is not fully correct as only retail business was sold to Origin Energy while infrastructure part of Country Energy was re-branded as Essential Energy. It seems that as there is an article about Essential Energy, the history of the company should be merged into Essential Energy and this article should be only about the retail business. Essential Energy[edit]

As Essential Energy was created based on electricity distribution assets of original Country Energy, it is considered as a successor of Country Energy, although it is not a legal successor of the current Country Energy. Per Template:Infobox company/doc I don't see anything wrong mentioning Essential Energy in the infobox as successor. Beagel (talk) 08:02, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It adds confusion and the fact is Essential Energy wasn't formed from Country Energy, it was just that the State Gov was forced to create a new company for the wholesale and distribution network. Template:Infobox company/doc is not the bible, policy or law. Bidgee (talk) 08:10, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
