Fair use rationale for Image:Langenhoven4c.jpg[edit]

Image:Langenhoven4c.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Freemason[edit]

Langenhoven is reported in a number of sources, including a book (Freemasons of South Africa), as I can recall, to have been a Freemason. I added a sentence to the text, as well as a preliminary online reference. I will try and find more references, including the above mentioned book. If anyone else has any good references to this fact, please add. Yeshuahasochek (talk) 10:57, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I consulted the published book on Freemasonry in South Africa by Dr. A. A. Cooper, and added the full reference to the article. I also incorporated the information into the text more smoothly. -Yeshuahasochek (talk) 14:12, 20 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Influence on Nelson Mandela[edit]

I found an interesting reference to Langenhoven in an article about the death of Nelson Mandela and his legacy in the Christian Science Monitor today which I have added to the bio of Langenhoven:

Nelson Mandela recounts that in 1964 while in prison he read a book by Langenhoven called Shadows of Nazareth about the trial of Christ Jesus that deeply affected him. Mandela describes how in Langenhoven's book Pilate agreed to judge Jesus, then offered the public a choice that freed not Jesus but the zealot Barabbas, and then how he, Pilate, finally ordered Jesus brought into the Roman court. "He gazed upwards and his eyes seemed to pierce through the roof and to see right beyond the stars," wrote Langenhoven. "It became clear that in that courtroom authority was not in me as a judge, but was down below in the dock where the prisoner was."[1][2]

Best regards,
