Corn doesn't HAVE gluten[edit]

Allergic to Propaganda?[edit]

There is much propaganda out there about corn/wheat/soya being bad for pets, but very little hard science to back this up. Some of these ideas are now so widespread they are hardly ever question, and that seems to have crept in here... Where is there evidence that pets become allergic after eating it for 'some' time. Firstly an allergic reaction is very specific and different to an intolerance or sensitivity which may have symptom that are dependent on certain levels of exposure. And for how long, a week, a month, 5 years? I have worked with pet food for over 7 years now and I have NEVER seen evidence of this - but heard a lot of people talking the same old lines. So the section on pets could really do with someone making an effort to source and reference genuine material.

Second point - is this of any use in human nutrition? Seems odd that we would give it to cats and spray it on our lawns but is there any reason why it cannot be used for people (with +/- 70% protein)?

Unreputable source?[edit]

Is the 7th source (the one from "The Nest" talking about corn gluten meal for pets) really a reputable source? If you follow it, it's basically to a "concerned pet owner"-type page, and the sources listed there are to holistic remedies and such. At no point is there a reference to a primary research article to support the claims. The only one that's substantiated is that a lot of cats and dogs are allergic to corn... although failing to mention meat allergies are actually much more common in cats. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.2.44.38 (talk) 04:43, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
