Notability[edit]

I beleive a discussion is in order for notability of this newspaper.

  1. One reference and three external links point to its own website. This does not provide notability.
  2. Another external link provides verification that an employee resigned when his home was allegedly the subject of an arson attempt.

Neither of these provides notability of the paper itself. For that, the paper would need references in secondary sources. These might include: (1) has the paper received any awards from established industry organizations?, (2) has the paper been recognized regionally or nationally for a story or editorial and the impact it had on the local community? Anything really other than it exists. If the only the article has to say is that the paper exists, then someone should combine it with other stubs of SC newspapers. - PennySpender1983 (talk) 02:14, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete discussion topics. They stand as a record for editors who want to know how the article developed. Topics are discussed to reach concensus and then adopted into the article. - PennySpender1983 (talk) 23:00, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, on August 11, 2008 the above mentioned tag was removed by an anonomous user (66.57.189.219 ) who also deleted the discussion topics mentioned here.
The assertion by the editor appears to be that the information he/she added is sufficient to meet the criteria of the Wikipedia guidelines on notability. Quite a few links were added to the reference section, but only one additional piece of information was added to the text of the article.
I will take a look at the information added. However, I am restoring the notability tag since this discussion was not resolved (merely deleted). Please add your comments here as to why the Columbia City Paper meets Wikipedia:Notability. - PennySpender1983 (talk) 23:02, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
