Untitled[edit]

This is a research idea that is currently expanding in notability. It has a published book describing it from a major academic publisher; this should be sufficient for inclusion in an encyclopedia. I'm removing the notability tag; if there are objections, please describe them here. - Metahacker 02:00, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I had published a now-massively-read article on Wikipedia and "Web 3.0" but it is nowhere to be seen in the Wikipedia "Web 3.0" entry because it was said to be not notable. But before the Wikipedia Web 3.0 entry even existed, I was contacted by a person at Stanford who wanted to me to send him an updated version of the article to publish in the IEEE Transactions on Internet Computing. Frankly, I was too busy to carry on with that task. Had I actually went on and published it in the IEEE the Wikipedia "people" (admins or zealots) would have had no justifiable reason to exclude it from Wikipedia. But isn't that a joke? The "encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone" has become the encyclopedia where "everyone can be censored for no reason other than fear, paranoia, politics and the thirst for power."

There are open source projects for building a distributed file systems (DHT and OFF) and Flash 10/Flex include an easy to use API and real-time P2P media flow protocol (enabling NAT traversal/UDP hole punching to connect user to user) so it should be fairly easy to built a P2P-hosted, user rated, non-censored version of Wikipedia, where we won't have to deal with power-tripping 12 year olds or anyone for that matter. Like Google's Knol but without the ads and P2P hosted rather than "controlled" by any one entity.

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 14:01, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
