This is the most ridiculous paragraph I have ever read on Wikipedia.[edit]

"After almost universal praise from independent critics, Coldwater drew a backlash from mainstream US critics when it was released in American theaters in August 2014. Though reviews were mixed (with more positive than negative), several top critics expressed palpable resentment in their write-ups, disregarding any cinematic critique of institutional abuse in the U.S. and condemning the film for its violence, teenage anti-hero theme, and dark, tragic tone. "

Someone is obviously very personally insulted that some critics did not like the film. Someone re-write this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:8805:BD01:FA00:8C6B:B2D7:C787:C3E0 (talk) 02:27, 22 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding previous Talk Contributor "This is the most ridiculous paragraph I have ever read on Wikipedia"[edit]

I read the paragraph and have to disagree: If one follows the links and reads the actual content of the critical reviews the paragraph cites as evidence, as well as the actual examples from those reviews included in the paragraphs following this article's paragraph in question, then said paragraph reads like an objective analysis and summary of those mainstream U.S. critical reviews. Not sure why it would need to be rewritten? Unless the actual critical reviews cited change in content themselves first. Do the research before complaining; read the entire section and the links/examples provided. If you've seen the film (I have twice), and have read the relevant reviews, it's an accurate description. Please note that WP:USERGENERATED content such as from other wikis or from user voted web polls are not allowed. That means that audience scores such as those from IMDB and others are not allowed, and this would normally also apply to the user voted scores on the french website AlloCine. I removed the general reference to the "current" score, but I kept the article from Allocine about Coldwater being the top film of the week, although maybe I should have removed that too. -- 109.77.213.49 (talk) 16:47, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have also removed a reference to IMDB.[1] In this case it is not because of user votes. This is not because IMDB is not a reliable source either (and it isn't a reliable source and should not be used as a reference in most cases). IMDB pages all include a place where external reviews from critics can be added. These lists usually includes reviews that are not notable enough to be listed on Metacritic or even Rotten Tomatoes. It is only a list,[2] there is no indication that any of these reviews are positive or negative or otherwise, so the claim that "most of the 100 critical reviews logged on IMDB praise the film" is original research by the editor that added that statement, which is why I removed it. -- 109.77.213.49 (talk) 18:00, 13 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
