Reasons for retaining this article and discussion[edit]

This article discusses a specific software item that users don't request but is mandatorily installed by Verizon. The software operation does strike a hostile cord among some users - although they've paid for the phone and own it, Verizon refuses to let them control all the applications on the phone and in fact collects from companies when it installs (and won't let users delete or modify) their software. Usually termed "bloatware," software like this continually appears in the menus and prompts, sometimes angering phone owners. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Springthunderstorms (talkcontribs) 16:51, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Also appears on AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2[edit]

This app comes pre-loaded on AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S2 as well. Not sure if there are other mobile operators beyond AT&T and Verizon that may be pre-loading this app. No visible icons anywhere for it but Applications did have it listed.

Just thought to let you know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shinji257 (talkcontribs) 14:08, 4 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And also on AT&T SG4. Just found a popup for City Id which may happen to explain the 20% battery drain over the last 2 hours. Echoing first comment: evil indeed. Pre-loaded trial-ware is stupid when there are appstores. Earn your customers.
Went to tools / More... / Application Manager , then scrolled all the way to the right to 'All', scrolled down and found the sucker, clicked and chose "Force Stop" and then "Turn off". Hope this helps (me). 98.196.200.19 (talk) 01:32, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
