Spelling

The article is named incorrectly: the chain is called "Chuck E. Cheese's".

The external link to "the history of Chuck e Cheese" has several small details incorrect such as they list Richard M Frank as the President when he is the CEO and the site doesn't even mention Mike Miguziac the current President.

The section entitled "Food Service" has an error, I believe... It says food left that was prepared more than 15 'days' ago, is thrown out and remade. I'm guesing it should be 15 minutes. _______________________

POV

This article feels awfuly critical of Chuck E. Cheese's. I felt like there was a negative undertone to every section as I was reading it.

Lawsuits

I removed the following text from the page.  I googled for both of these incidents and came up empty.  If someone can verify this, feel free to add it back in, with proper cites:

Like many corporations, Chuck E. Cheese has faced lawsuits throughout its history. Recently, the Orkel vs. Pizza Time Inc. Case reached national attention in the U.S. A child rode a ride where one would pedal a bicycle that would then go upward toward the ceiling. The child tried to climb down the ride and got a serious head wound in the process. His parents sued for $15 million, and settled the case out of court. Also, the show Jackass involved themselves with a Philadelphia Area Restaurant by creating a "naked slide" in which Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Ryan Dunn, and an employed female model went into a slide fully clothed, but came out the bottom only in underwear. Chuck E. Cheese sued Jackass and the clip was unaired.

This article could be worded better; it does not carry a formal tone.

Example: "Chuck E. Cheese's has a large selection of food items to choose from including pizza, buffalo wings, sandwiches, and salads to name a few."

Really, the characters don't need their own page. In all technicality, they have enough coverage on the main page, and most of the major characters already have their own pages. Circus Pizza

Whatever happened to Circus Pizza? There used to be a lot of them around here, but they all got replaced by the (much lamer, I think) Chuck E. Cheese's...esesezez.. however you pluralize that. Are/were they the same thing/a franchise?

I think that ShowBiz Pizza was different enough from Chuck E. Cheese, that it should have its own page, and not be a redirect.

That's mostly true. But I'm good with remembering when things happen and I remember that it changed to Chuck E. Cheese's at the beginning of 1993. That may be what's implied with the current version, but I thought I should point that out.

Since Chuck E Cheese's was still largely franchised, there is no one correct date for changes that were dictated by the HQ. Especially things as large as a name change could take months, or even a year to be implemented throughout the whole chain. Showbizpage 20:13, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Changes

I think the page could benefit from removing the Contents tab. This seems to unnecessarily lengthen the article. Also, the voice cast section is good information, but is there any way to format it so that it took up less area?

"In popular culture" section

Does this article need one? I swear, I've seen more parodies of this restaurant on cartoons more than any other franchise or bussiness (except possibly Star Wars). I remember it being mentioned in a few sitcoms as well. Kochdude388 02:35, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm confused

The article states, "In 1984, Pizza Time Theatre, Inc, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and was purchased by competitor Showbiz Pizza Place, which also featured pizza, video games, and singing animatronic characters. The company then changed its name to Showbiz Pizza Time, Inc. Both the Chuck E. Cheese's and ShowBiz names continued to be used until 1992, when Chuck E. Cheese's Pizza became the name for all of the restaurants."

Okay, so were Showbiz Pizza and Chuck E. Cheese competitors or were they owned by the same group? The paragraph starts off like they're competitors, but then it talks about how they then decided to both use the same name for all the restaurants. Was Showbiz merged into Chuck E. Cheese? Were they bought out? Whatever happened needs to be stated in the article, or it won't make any sense to talk about how they were "competitors" and the next sentence talk about how "Chuck E. Cheese became the name for all the restaurants". That's like saying Coke and Pepsi fought a bitter war until Pepsi became the name for all Coke and Pepsi drinks. Celedor15 13:35, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

I agree, and thank you for bringing that to my attention. Unfortunately (as per the protection template) the page has been protected, as it has been receiving a LOT of vandalism, and thanks for brining that to my attention, as it possibly is vandalism. Feel free to prune out a few of the parodies, it is irrelevant, I've just been concentrating on vandalism prevention and repair on this page right now, but I was planning on looking into that a bit later. this article is a nightmare

I have to agree as well... I've been attempting to work with the article, though I'm going on a wikibreak now, but when I'm back, hopefully it'll be better. The sheer amounts of vandalism when I first came across the article, stuff that had been there for ridiculous amounts of time, had to be corrected. Even then, the article was a mess. Yoko

Yoko is a cat character who will have a stage with Munch, Showbiz Pizza Place's Mitzi, and The Birthday spider. This character is still in development, and is from Timothy Goes To School. can anyone put a sources on Yoko character it sounds odd to put a character like that into a band. is this some Yoko Ono reference?

That was false. It made no sense, because Munch is not a part of the RAE, which is not in SPP's or CEC's anymore, plus, there was no reference to this. I think it was vandalism 68.111.100.214 01:35, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, can you do me a favor really quick? Unfortunately the birthday song lyrics seem... kinda long, and a bit useless to the article. They're also unsourced at the moment. I haven't gotten rid of them, but just hidden them. Character Voices

Alot of these are incorrect. Chris Sabat and Georgia Denney only provided voices for Munch and Helen (respectively) in Chuck E. Cheese in the Galaxy 5000. Also, Tress MacNeile never did Helen's voice. I honestly can't get to the edit article page (it gets all flubby on me), but if someone wants to change this information, it'd probably help the article quite a bit.

Condensing Article

I'm currently trying to improve this article. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I would like to trim down the two largest sections, Animated Characters and Company History, but I'm having trouble there. Showbizpage 16:03, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Character Voices (cont'd)

The character voices are wrong. Plus, the debut years for the characters are wrong. Munch debuted in 1978 when he replaced Crusty the Cat. Plus, Helen also debuted in 1978 when Munch was added to add a Female voice. However, she was dropped as a character until she came back as Broadway Helen as a guest character. Logos

I think it would be nice to include a small logos section, like this:

Since the store opened in 1977, Chuck E. Cheese's has undergone many logo changes for the past 30 years. Here is a list of them:

• The very first logo had a uniqe shape and a small cirle at the top with Chuck E.'s face in it. it also said Chuck E. Cheese's. The bottom part had Pizza Time Theatre written on it.
• The 2nd logo was introduced in 1980... etc etc etc

Vandalism

After reading much of this article, I can see it has been vandalized quite heavily. (ie.e, some of CEC's motto's being "Be Cool, Eat Your Stool!" and "Moms Like It That Way"?) Is Chuck a rat or a mouse?

The opening of the article calls him an "anthromorphic rat." The characters section, however, says he is a mouse. So which one is he? Lord Of Demise (talk) 01:14, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Originally he was a rat(as designed by the founder) but in 1997 the company announced he was a mouse. There is a good reference at http://www.<EDITED>.com/article/426707/little_known_facts_about_chuck_e_cheeses.html (<EDITED>is associatedcontent) but the site is banned by WIkipedia so I found another (although less detailed) reference. --RobertGary1 (talk) 18:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Health concerns

I've removed 3 claims that weren't substantiated:

1. The article does not say they were "dangerously" contaminated. They were contaminated, as lots of restaurants and public spaces are, but it's not said the contamination was at a dangerous level.

2. The article says a "our co-worker claimed to have gotten ringworm from Chuck E. Cheese's" does not mean that they actually did get ringworm from there.

3. The expert in the article says "But as a doctor, I haven't ever seen a serious or life-threatening infection that can be clearly traced back to a kid-friendly restaurant. So take this all with a grain of salt." She does not say, she "[considers] Chuck E. Cheese's an unsanitary environment and [recommends] that parents not take their children there. "

Alcohol is not intersting

Is the fact that one single store was asked to give up its alcohol license intersting (especially for being an entire section)? Its like saying my Chevette broke down in the Chevrolet article; just seems petty to put in an article. What do people think about removing it? --RobertGary1 (talk) 17:19, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Removed. Wikipedia:Be_bold. The article doesn't say how many restaurants serve alcohol, but even if 1/5 of its 524 locations did it'd still be less than 1%. There's no indication that this is a chain wide issue. Also, this did not receive national coverage and enter into the popular conscience. If there are future incidents and a pattern develops, then this section should be reinstated. But Wikipedia doesn't create sections for every idiosyncrasy of every restaurant of large chains like Chuck E Cheese and McDonalds.--Lord of the Ping (talk) 18:11, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Cleanup

All today I've been working on the article. I've done a HUGE job of adding large amounts of references, including third-party sources. By the end of today I hope to have nearly every sentence referenced in the article. I've also removed much fancruft, vandalism, and I've also fixed many mistakes.
