Non verifiable statements[edit]

I have put a lot of work into verifying this article, but three issues still stand out as present unverifiable. I have highlighted these issues below in BOLD, If anyone can verify them with a source, then they could be added back to the article:

  • Christopher John Tarrant OBE (born October 10, 1946, Reading, Berkshire into a family of staunch Protestants)
  • Re his schooling - He acknowledged a debt of gratitude to his English teacher James Cash M.C. and his history teacher, Dr Alex Natan, a German former world record holding athlete
  • Re his early ATV reporter role - Eventually he was told he needed to concentrate on one or the other to find his niche, so he chose the wackier stories
  • Christopher loved his dog dexter so much he slept in its basket for the first six months to keep him company

Marriages[edit]

Can anyone explain how he met his wife ingrid at TV-Am in 1981 when it didnt begin until 1983?

His second marriage was to Ingrid. Jim Michael (talk) 16:19, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You mean TV-am didn't start until 1983, not the marriage --Rjmunro (talk) 20:38, 26 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ChrisTarrant.JPG[edit]

Image:ChrisTarrant.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 06:51, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Career[edit]

I've started a section on his career because I notice there wasn't one up to now. TheRetroGuy (talk) 11:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also his other TV shows need to be added. Tarrent on TV is one.. there was also a program he presented which showed certain adverts if I remember correctly? 87.194.253.247 (talk) 17:39, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

he also hosted an afternoon quiz show, PSI/Crazy Comparisons on ITV for at least a couple of series. 82.7.132.170 (talk) 18:28, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

I've added an image of the 'real' Chris Tarrant, rather than the waxwork. Would it make sense to swap them over? Phooto (talk) 18:18, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for asking but WP:BE BOLD applies and clearly your photo supersedes one of a waxwork!! ;) Halsteadk (talk) 21:37, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Reversions[edit]

I've just reverted several dubious edits to this article, one of which claimed he was dead and another claiming he has a collection of Dale Winton memorabelia. I guess we're going to get a lot of this after yesterday's article in the Daily Mail. TheRetroGuy (talk) 18:49, 17 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GMG[edit]

Has Tarrant now left GMG? Details of his show seem to have disappeared from several of their websites. Does anyone know? TheRetroGuy (talk) 11:57, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Chris Tarrant cocktail[edit]

Just removed "In the early 21st century he had the Chris Tarrant alcholic cocktail named in his honour". Not only is the article on this subject up for deletion, there are no significant results for it on Google. TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Life[edit]

There is nothing (or a bare minimum) about Chris' first 28 years of life (i.e. before he started "Tiswas") There's pretty much nothing on his parents, birth, childhood, schooling, upbringing or early jobs apart from the small bits in the intro section. Also, there's nothing on his parent's deaths' in recent years. --Arossmorrison (talk) 21:46, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Legal troubles[edit]

I was just browsing this article and came across this strange paragraph regarding legal dispute with a different Chris Tarrant. I can find no reference to this online. It needs a citation. And correct spelling of plagiarising. And I also disagree with expressing any opinion in an article such as "more talented". It's not for the editor to say. So although this is definitely not my area of expertise I do have some standards when it comes to accuracy and language so I could not ignore it.
