Carter trade[edit]

Does this need to be in the article, it really has nothing to do with bosh.

In exchange for Carter, Toronto received two first round draft picks, small forward Eric Williams, and centers Aaron Williams and Alonzo Mourning from the New Jersey Nets; Mourning did not report to the Raptors, who later bought out his contract. Joey Graham, on whom the Raptors used one of the picks they received from the Nets, is now playing alongside Bosh.

POV[edit]

I've removed the following paragraph:

Chris is developing into one of the top forwards in the Eastern Conference and is often compared to Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves due to his size and skills.

This kind of statement can't simply be asserted--it is expressing an opinion. Who says that "Chris is developing into one of the top forwards..."? Sports Illustrated, or some writer? Some other magazine? Give some references, or better yet an exact quote. Who compares him to Kevin Garnet? Again, references or quotes are needed. -Rholton 13:28, 17 November 2005

Who refers to him as CB4? Answer: just about everybody. Nothing 'official' or 'concrete', which you seem to alude to want, but it's a generalised view. Likewise, it's a generalised view that Chris is both a developing forward in the East and is similar in style to Garnett. I don't believe such a statement requires a quote when it is quite obviously the general view.
Who 'quoted' LeBron James as being the next big thing? Nearly everyone, hence no need for a direct quote. Same goes with Bosh.
- boomtish
You're right. However, LeBron James says, " "King" James was already on the covers of Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine. Celebrities such as Shaquille O'Neal were attending his games, a few of which were being televised nationally on ESPN2 and on pay-per-view", along with some other related statements (several paragraphs in LeBron James#High school, for example). This article could use a good-sized expansion to mention what kind of exposure he got while in college. I do know he got a lot of national attention while at Georgia Tech, and he'd definitely be a lot more well-known if he were putting up his kind of numbers for a more well-known NBA team. --Idont Havaname 18:46, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

(UTC): I didn't write that paragraph, but here is an interview in which he says he models his game after Garnett's. Also, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer ran a column in which he was compared to Garnett and other elite power forwards in the NBA. Try Google News for "Chris Bosh" + "Kevin Garnett". --Idont Havaname 19:55, 17 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Umm who erased my Swish Bosh nickname comment? That's a very common nickname for him in toronto

I am from Toronto and have been a fan of the Raps since long before CB4 arrived and I've never heard anyone in Toronto refer to him as "Swish Bosh".

GA comments[edit]

If you can include a little of his early life history that would be great, this should be easy as he is so young. With the modern growth of the internet it's so much easier to find info about current players (I'm having a real hard time over on Lawrence Taylor finding info about his early life). Something like, "Chris Bosh was born to Tanya and Jamal Bosh in the suburbs of..." or whatever and rename the first section something like "Early life". Then put a little info in there about his childhood like if he had any siblings, if he idolized a certain athlete growing up, if he played other sports, or what kind of a student he was. This stuff is very important for the general reader who isn't as interested in basketball. The off-the-court life could use a little beefing up as well. Great work so far, here's a couple more suggestions:
    • Expand the lead, remember per WP:Lead a lead should be a summary of the article so just try to summarize what's in the article.
      • tried improving it since
    • "...from the arc." Eliminate the use of phrases like this. A non-basketball fan won't know what it means. Make it "on 3 point shots" or " 3 point shooting."
      • done
    • "He shot 15-of-15 after missing his first four." First four what? That should be first four shots.
      • done
    • Does he have any brothers or sisters?
      • i know he has a younger brother, but for the life of me i can't find anything which says if he has more siblings.
    • "...was often praised by coaches for his heart" This should be "praised by his coaches" more specific.
      • done
    • Add a career stats table like the one in other NBA article, such as Dwyane Wade, Lebron James, and Kobe Bryant (they're all the same table).
      • kind of done, modified the table a little because i can't find some of the stats yet, like Hi, MVP and TD... in due time when they're in they'd be in so as to make all wp nba stats tables consistent. thanks. Quadzilla99 02:30, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok I'm ready to pass it just four final considerations:
      • Expand the 2004-05 season section by one or two sentences, it's a little stubby.
      • "joining Antawn Jamison as the only ever freshman to do so." Should be "only freshman ever to do so."
      • "he is also known for his well-developed jump shots." Change jump shots to jump shooting skills or jump shot.
      • "was shades of the 3-point shot that..." Change shades to reminiscent, sounds more formal and encyclopedic. Okay that's all I see once this is done I'll pass it. Quadzilla99 12:31, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
        • all done, would also be doing more general research to add in more stuff as time goes by. thanks. Chensiyuan 16:32, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I passed it the lead could still use a little expansion, but I know how that hard that can be sometimes when you want to get the exact right wording. Quadzilla99 17:27, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who would read this article if they weren't interested in Basketball? That's like someone who doesn't like horror movies searching Wes Craven...

  • What about all the time he has spent on the injured list. This guy is an accident waiting to happen. One hit to the knee and his career is done...... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.13.119.139 (talk) 19:40, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

First playoff berth?[edit]

In the first article, should it not say either "...to his first NBA Playoffs berth..." or "...their first NBA Playoffs berth in five years..." As it stands, the article implies the Raptors have never played in the NBA playoffs.

it qualifies it with "in five years". Chensiyuan 03:49, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a good nickname for Chris Bosh.

Elaborate -- because what you're suggesting is his nickname is to be determined by you. And I hope you're not referring to a pun on posh spice. Chensiyuan 05:57, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is not mentioned that Bosh injured his face, thus missing the end of the season, anywhere in the section of the article dedicated to last season. Shouldn't it say that he was nicknamed CB4 in Toronto after Chris Paul who is nicknamed CP3?--Bellsprout723d (talk) 03:36, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bosh entered the league in 03-04, Paul entered the league in 05-06. According to the first link (now dead) he had the nickname before March 2004. If anything, CP3 got the name from CB4. Charwinger21 (talk) 23:44, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do either of you have a source that says one nickname was derived from the other? Chensiyuan (talk) 01:28, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not saying that CP3 came from CB4, just that CB4 came before CP3 (as the first link used to state) Charwinger21 (talk) 02:51, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On November 3, 2012, in a 119 to 116 win, Bosh had a 40 point game, a personal high with the Miami Heat, and one point off his career high.

A high school "Mr. Basketball" in Texas, Bosh left college at Georgia Tech after one season with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team to enter the 2003 NBA Draft. He was selected fourth overall by the Toronto Raptors in a very competitive draft class that included multiple future NBA superstars such as James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony. While at Toronto, Bosh emerged as one of the young stars in the league; he became a five-time NBA All-Star, was named to the All-NBA second team once, appeared for the US national team (with whom he won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympics), and supplanted former fan-favorite Vince Carter as the face and leader of the Raptors franchise. In the 2006–07 season, Bosh led the Raptors to their first NBA Playoffs berth in five years, and their first ever division title. He left Toronto for the Miami Heat in 2010 as its all-time leader in points, rebounds, blocks, double doubles, free throws made and attempted, and minutes played. Bosh won his first NBA title after Miami defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 4–1 in the 2012 NBA Finals. He won his second title in 2013 as the Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the 2013 NBA Finals. In game 1 of the East Semifinal against the Indiana Pacers, he suffered a lower abdominal strain that forced him to miss the rest of the series and the first four games of the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston. Boston pushed Miami to 7 games, and in the final game Bosh scored 19 points, including 3 of 4 shooting from three point range, to help the Heat advance to their second straight NBA Finals, this time against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder won the first game of the series before Miami rolled to a 4-1 victory, giving Bosh and James their first NBA title. Bosh scored 24 points in the deciding game 5 and averaged 14.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in the Finals. Bosh remained the Heat's starting center during the 2012-2013 season. Bosh averaged 12.1 points per game throughout the playoffs as the Heat advanced to the NBA Finals to face the San Antonio Spurs following a grueling seven game series against Indiana. The Heat and Spurs split the first two games before the Spurs blew out Miami in game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. In game 4, Bosh scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to complement Wade's 32 points and James' 33 points to bolster the Heat's win, tying the series. San Antonio would bounce back in game 5 to force the Heat to win the final two games at home. In the final seconds of game 6, LeBron James missed a three pointer, and Bosh grabbed the offensive rebound and found a wide open Ray Allen in the corner. Allen hit the shot to tie the game, and in overtime the Heat had a three point lead with seconds left. San Antonio inbounded the ball to Danny Green, who attempted a corner three, but Green's shot was blocked by Bosh to secure the Heat's victory. In the playoffs Bosh scored 20 points in game 2 of Miami's first round series against the Charlotte Bobcats and posted 15 points with 11 rebounds against the Brooklyn Nets in the second game of the semifinal series. In game 4 against Brooklyn, Bosh hit a late corner three-pointer to help Miami take a 3–1 lead over the Nets, and hit four three-pointers in game 5 as the Heat advanced to play the Pacers for the second year in a row in the Eastern Conference Finals. Against the Pacers, Bosh struggled offensively through the first three games, scoring 9 points in each contest before scoring 25 points on 3-for-5 shooting from beyond the three point arc in a game 4 victory. Bosh would follow that up with 20 points and 10 rebounds in game 5 as the Pacers won and forced a sixth game in Miami. In game 6, Bosh scored 25 points as the Heat advanced to their fourth straight NBA Finals. During the 2013-2014 Bosh shot and made more three pointers than at any point during his career, and continued to make crucial shots during the playoffs. Bosh has stepped up in games whenever Lebron James or Dwyane Wade are out with injury, even gaining a reputation for hitting clutch three pointers during the regular season. Such examples include the January 5th 2012 game tying three pointer against the Hawks in Atlanta with both James and Wade out, and a game winning three pointer on March 31, 2013 against the Spurs, also without James and Wade. A similar scenario occurred on December 28, 2013, as Bosh scored 37 points including a game winning three pointer with 0.5 seconds left against the Portland Trail Blazers with James sidelined. In terms of leadership, Bosh has always led by example. When he was the leader of the Raptors, he was not known for being vocal on the court, preferring to maintain his quiet and humble demeanor but expecting his team mates to match his work ethic. However, Bosh was also known to deliver stern rebukes to team mates who make bad calls on the court. Throughout his career, comparisons have been made between him and Kevin Garnett due to their similar style of play and physique. Whereas the former does not possess the latter's defensive abilities, Bosh was observed to have adopted a greater defensive dimension to his game after his stint with Team USA at the 2008 Olympics where they won the gold medal. ==Honors and achievements== *NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Month: January 2007 *NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week: January 3, 2005; January 30, 2006; March 26, 2007; January 7, 2008; October 28, 2008; February 1, 2010; April 5, 2010, December 23, 2013 *NBA Atlantic Division Champion: 2006–07 *NBA Southeast Division Champion: 2010–11, 2011–12, 2012–13, 2013–14 *NBA Champion: 2011–12, 2012–13 *NBA All-Star: 2005–06; 2006–07; 2007–08; 2008–09 (did not participate due to injury); 2009–10; 2010–11; 2011–12; 2012–13; 2013–14 *All-NBA Second Team: 2006–07 *NBA All-Rookie Team: 2003–04 *NBA Rookie All-Star Game: 2003–04; 2004–05 *Bronze medal winner with Team USA at the 2006 FIBA World Championship *Gold medal winner with Team USA at the 2008 Summer Olympics ===Other achievements=== *Third-youngest player in NBA history to record 1,000 rebounds *Fourth-youngest player in NBA history to record 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game *Toronto's all-time leader in minutes played *Toronto's first player to achieve 10,000 points *Toronto's all-time leader in points scored *Toronto's all-time leader in rebounds *Toronto's all-time leader in defensive rebounds *Toronto's all-time leader in offensive rebounds *Toronto's all-time leader in rebounds per game *Toronto's all-time leader in rebounds per game in a season *Toronto's all-time leader in blocks *Toronto's all-time leader in free throws made *Toronto's all-time leader in free throws made in a season *Toronto's all-time leader in free throws attempted *Toronto's all-time leader in free throws attempted in a season *Toronto's all-time leader in double-doubles *Toronto's all-time leader in double-doubles in a season *NBA Sportsmanship Award (divisional winner): 2007–08 ==Off the court== Besides his on-the-court exploits, Bosh was a National Honor Society member and graduated with honors from Lincoln. He is also a member of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Dallas Association of Minority Engineers. Following his success in the NBA, Bosh soon had his own YouTube channel, and has since made various TV appearances. Is he retired?[edit]

Perhaps the first line should mention that he's retired? It says he currently plays for the Miami Heat, but at the end of his biography it says he is retired. Which is it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.113.109.210 (talk) 16:35, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
