Pronunciation[edit]

Cholame pronunciation[edit]

In the one building "town " of Cholame CA (where James Dean died on 9/30/1955), they pronounce the name of their town as "sha-lamb" with the emphasis on the second syllable. It sounded to me a lot like "Shazzam!" the old Capt. Marvel (??) expletive.

In Parkfield, 10 miles up the road and the earthquake capital of the world , they pronounce it "Shlamb" like in "don't Shlam the door!"
