Notable, founder of several notable companies[edit]

These point to notability,[1][2] but I haven't added them yet because I'm looking for more details. Perhaps article would be renamed "Charles H. Pugh Ltd". Removing prod. StrayBolt (talk) 21:09, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

More than one person by that name it seems. If this guy died in 1901 then he isn't the founder of Atco (British mower company) who had the same name and founded that company in 1921. Look also at Rudge-Whitworth. When was the Whitworth Cycle Co mentioned in the article merged to create it? Dream Focus 01:19, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
From the research I did, he was merged with rudge in 1893 but he stayed in charge. And his death in 1901, his sons were in charged and went public calling it charles H Pugh limited. From there they produced WWI parts, and then bike chains, and then a lawn mower from another company they started called Atco. Lightburst (talk) 01:23, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The other article say in its infobox the Founder is Charles H Pugh Ltd. So whoops! That's a company they created, not a name. Dream Focus 01:26, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I was fooled by that initially too. That's why maybe the company named after him might be more notable than him with it being the holding company of the others. Some notability with the jointless rims (although some say Vernon Pugh, need more sources), see it published in many countries. I partly did this as an ARS experiment, instead of an AfD. I don't usually bother with newspaper archives but have easy access to some covering the period such as The Times and The Illustrated London News. In this case, note that I recently visited the London Motorcycle Museum where I took lots of photos, including a vintage Rudge. But that was on their last day and so they may not be so useful now. Anyway, as the topic isn't at AfD, I'm not convinced that this is a high priority. I'll keep my eyes open and come back with relevant material, if I happen to come across it. Andrew D. Thanks for all the help! I know it is not a AfD, but it was an expiring WP:PROD at the time and was made into a redirect[3] by the poster after I had removed it. Was Pugh the Chairman of Lancaster Motor? StrayBolt (talk) 15:59, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
