Sources[edit]

This list needs to have everybody referenced by Reliable Sources. Search for a game here and find a page which tells what is said in this article. Change wording around if you have to. Blake (Talk·Edits) 15:25, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009-10-27[edit]

Good work -- I'd recommend removing all redlinks and finding more sources. Don't forget you can use the games themselves as sources. take a look at how they do it in the Halo 3 article. --Teancum (talk) 15:36, 27 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Torn's voice[edit]

Torn's voice is listed as "Cutter Mitchel". Other sources say his name is "Cutter Garcia". He might have married since the game was made or the name was always wrong. Whichever it is, it seems to be wrong now. someone please check this and act accordingly. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.168.104.201 (talk) 10:41, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Jak over his three games.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Jak over his three games.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Page Vandilsim[edit]

I don't know if it was someone just getting carried away or people trying to vandalize the page, but the page needs to be looked over as there is some weird and unthrough things being said. Thanks!

Minor Characters[edit]

I think we should change the minor character sub heading to other characters as some mentioned in it have fairly big roles in the games - Jak Fisher

Separate Article for Jak?[edit]

Well, Jak is the protagonist, after all. Besides, I've seen lesser characters get their own articles. Sure, he's not playable in one game, but I'm just very disturbed that only Daxter's got his own article, despite having less of a background. 1.123.20.18 (talk) 17:03, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Screentime does not dictate who gets articles, Notability is shown through coverage in third party reliable sources. Daxter got a lot of recognition for being a great sidekick. Jak has not gotten as much recognition. Blake (Talk·Edits) 05:09, 29 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Try searching for reviews of the games that comment on Jak's changes across the franchise. There has to be a lot about that to create an article.Tintor2 (talk) 22:57, 13 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I second this notion. There are plenty of sources out there, it's just that people actually went and retrieved them for Daxter. Additionally, if you look at Daxter, quite a few sources are outdated or also include Jak. I would not think Daxter is any more notable than Jak as far as WP:N is concerned. Jacedc (talk) 02:35, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean a few sources are outdated? Trying to make sense of that. Also, I do agree that Jak should get an article. However, I only found a couple sources for him when I looked a long while ago. Should more get found which significantly display Jak's notability, then he can get an article. Blake (Talk·Edits) 00:29, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, none of them are outdated. I may have thought that because of a site move or something, but one day I found one which resulted in a 404. Weird. Anyways, still, there are at least eight sources which also include Jak. The idea that Daxter has more reliable sources than Jak is simply silly. So, in combination with the eight otherwise reliable sources that Daxter has, and the sources which Tintor2 provided, I don't see how Jak is any less notable than Daxter. If the aforementioned sources aren't enough to provide Jak with his own article, then I don't think Daxter deserves his own either. Jacedc (talk) 02:31, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The thing is, the number of sources isn't really the problem. Sure, we can get 20 sources that say "Jak is in this game and does this stuff", some may even say "hes a pretty cool dude". But we need "significant coverage" which with Daxter, his sources say stuff like "best original character of 2002", "brings a new sense of wonder and joy to videogames", "the life of the series". That's some stuff that displays notability. Blake (Talk·Edits) 03:48, 31 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Second proposal[edit]

Wait a minute, there are third-party reliable sources which are sufficient enough to indicate notability right there in the current article:

  • Jak was listed 26th on the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 's "top 50 characters of all time".[1]
  • IGN mentioned that they liked Jak's character better in Jak 3 than in Jak II, because in Jak II he was a "whiny, brooding emo figure".[2]
  • In a poll conducted by Gameinformer, Jak was voted as the 28th best character of the decade.[3]
  • And lastly, IGN also listed Jak and Daxter as the fifth best duo in gaming.[4]

If that isn't significant coverage then I don't know what is. Jacedc (talk) 07:46, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
