Chadderton Urban District was a local government district which encompassed the civil parish of Chadderton and the nearby area of Hollinwood, Greater Manchester. The district was created by the Local Government Act 1894 and was abolished by the Local Government Act 1972. At the time of its creation Chadderton Urban District was part of the administrative county of Lancashire. The 1972 act created several new metropolitan counties, and so the same area is now administered by the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham as part of Greater Manchester.^[1]
