Hoax status of the giant.[edit]

This is the text which gives the best evidence for the Cerne Abbas giant being a hoax.

WikiProject:Dorset importance status[edit]

I propose that this article be raised to an 'importance status' classification of 'Mid', not 'Low' as it currently stands. Any objections/comments? PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 21:20, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Status changed as no objections raised as yet. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 06:16, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

External Links[edit]

Does anybody object to adding a link to the Cerne Abbas community site - http://cernevalley.co.uk? It is a guidebook for Cerne Abbas and the surrounding areas, and was created by the community in Cerne Abbas for residents and visitors. Nic Newdigate (talk) 10:39, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The relevant guidelines are here and here. The portal could be regarded as an official link of the article subject if the parish council produces it. I note here that you state the council commissioned and funded the portal, though that is not necessarily the same as editorial input. Personally I think the portal has enough unique and non-commercial information to warrant inclusion, though other editors might not remove objections unless it can be shown that the parish council has editorial control. Status changed as no objections. Parish Council has editorial control of this site and will be publishing their meeting agendas and minutes here in the near future. Nic Newdigate (talk) 13:19, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a directory, guide or the news. There is nothing of encyclopedic interest in the site that would not already be in a good article as required by WP:EL. We have no proof of who controls the content or that it has any official status. There is also a possible conflict of interest by the editor who is so keen to add this link. It has to go until that status changes.Charles (talk) 23:44, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The parish council clerk states here that this is his website: https://www.dorsetforyou.com/article/390092/Parish-council-publication-scheme; If you have any doubts as to who controls this content, then please contact the parish council clerk and ask, rather than making assumptions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.64.98.99 (talk) 12:55, 28 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Phonetics[edit]

Hello Wikipedians and a happy New Year to you all!

It might be useful to add the pronunciation of Cerne Abbas. It's often done in other articles and in truth, I've never known anyone in France who's certain about the phonetics.--Aziliz Breizh (talk) 17:39, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
