Perhaps Cebuano Wikipedia was erased too quickly ?

I think that this page should have been kept, even if only to make it easier to access other translations of it (especially important since the english version is often used as a lingua-franca to find other translations when creating a new article). And if you are right, then at least leave here some comments, otherwise it will eventualy simply get recreated, possibly with even fewer information.

At least, I think you should have waited way more than just a week for comments and makes more efforts to encourage contributions, perhaps by asking peoples from the Cebuan project, because it is very likely that most of the references to make it noticeable are not written in english (there is probably way more sources coming from Asian languages). It is not like if there was any urgency to remove it.

For the notability factor, in my opinion the mere existence of a translation of wikipedia should be enough, because why would people talk about it in English if you make it difficult to find basic informations about the project? If it doesn't even deserve to get a page describing it in other languages, then does it even deserve to exist at all? Here, the number of contribution to that specific language is completely irrelevant, otherwise you should probably remove most of the similar pages for languages with fewer than 50,000 articles, in every languages including simple english. If we do that, we would delete/redirect thousands of pages.

There is plenty of pages in the english version of Wikipedia that are of not use at all; this one is just much easier to find, but even a very minimalistic version of it is still useful, unless you only speak English.

Maybe it is a special situation, but the main question is, does the existence of this page is significantly more useful than not having it at all? Even if almost empty, it at least make it much easier to find translations in a language you may understand, or find references that would help you to complete the article. How many times did I ended up on the main project page of a language I didn't know, and that I needed more efforts that it should be needed to get information about the project in a language I understand? Usually, the main project page is only in the local language with no clear links to get more information on other languages.

Except if blindly follow Wikipedia principles (and I have doubts that the existence of this page is really against it), I see no useful reason to refuse that Wikipedia self-promote its own translations projects and give basic description of all of its projects in as many languages as possible, so as to promote more contributions. And of course, in this special situation it is to be expected that Wikipedia will often be the main source (why would people talk about it in English if you don't make it easy for them to get informations; perhaps there is plenty of external sources talking about it and makes it noticeable, but just not in English).

Now, if you really want to be pendantic, here few references I quickly found on other translation, but you can certainly find much better ones in Cebuano :

  • "Robot journalism pushes the boundaries for what's possible". nordiclabourjournal.org. Retrieved 2017-02-18.
  • Cebuano Informational Report ([PDF]; 864 kB) Christopher DeFraga, Rhode Island College, 2011 .

Perhaps every such languages should provide a link like the following, and show a graph with the contribution/article statistics.

I strongly agree. Only 3 people voted in the AfD for this article. I didn't find the arguments compelling enough. Is anyone else interested in widening the discussion via a request to recreate? Donama (talk) 01:18, 10 July 2018 (UTC)
I also agree. 5 million articles has resulted in coverage of this, bot created or not, and is definitely notable to warrant its own article, as there are many smaller and much lesser known Wikipedias that do.--Seacactus 13 (talk) 17:27, 2 August 2019 (UTC)
