Changes for December 2009[edit]

  1. I respect Composers WikiProject's decision not to include an infobox in most composers' bios, but Carlos Chávez was also a member of the civil service and worked as director of the National Institute of Fine Arts. There are at least four WikiProjects involved in this bio, and I see no reason to impose this criteria to everybody.
  2. Spanish words need to be surrounded by {{lang|es|...}} according to Composers WP.
  3. The article has been flagged for over a year requesting references. The footnotes are unambiguous, and the most popular reference can be verified online via Google Books; nobody noticed that the second most popular reference was misspelled right in the Bibliography section (García Morillo), etc.
  4. There's a new version of the portrait, which is significantly better.
  5. PDATA was included, dates are not wikified anymore, Coyoacán is not outside Mexico City; it's one of its boroughs, external links are discouraged in the main text (i.e. New York Public Library for the Performing Arts), etc.

I apologize for not having seen the changes adding {{lang|es|...}} to the Spanish titles, which is certainly a good idea, and I could not see that the image was anything new—only the old one slightly resized. I was wrong about that. As to point #1, since Chávez is primarily known as a composer, despite there being other projects involved, surely the conflict must resolve in favour of the Composers Project. However, I do not immediatley see how to dis-embed the Image from the offending infobox. Please help me with this. Point 3: I think I was the one who placed the flag requesting more references. Merely changing the format on some of them (three were left untouched) does not increase their numbers, and parenthetical referencing is actually much clearer and avoids the clutter of blue numbers created by footnote references. In any case, please see Wikipedia:Citing_sources/example_style, Wikipedia:Citing_sources#How_to_present_citations, and the lede to Wikipedia:Citing sources ("If an article already has citations, adopt the method in use or seek consensus before changing it.") before changing formats without prior discussion and consensus. (As a matter of fact, the number of references has been significantly increased over the past year, mainly by me, so perhaps the flag can be taken down now.) Other corrections have been left in place, and are gratefully received. The error in Garca Morillo 1960 must have been down to me, since I added that reference myself, with the data typed-in from the copyright page of the book itself. Thank you for your hard work.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 18:27, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've assessed this article as Start-class because it is a very short article, but not a stub. -Drilnoth (talk) 23:49, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
