Misunderstanding[edit]

There is a complete misunderstanding of the facts here, mostly by misleading information from other sources:

  1. What Cape Verde has requested (and obtained) is a special partnership with the EU, and not membership. These are two different things.
  2. Cape Verde has not been distancing itself from Africa.
  3. A few Cape Verdean descendents in Europe aimed for Cape Verde to join the EU. A few. That is not the official positioning of the Cape Verdean government.
  4. A few people in Portugal have talked about the possibility of Cape Verde being back part of Portugal. A few. That is not the official positioning of the Portuguese government.

I’m in a lack of time right now, so I ask to someone that knows better about political subjects than me to correct this article. Ten Islands (talk) 09:28, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"throwing their support for their regional brethren"? That sounds pretty funny :) 193.166.83.163 (talk) 13:23, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
