image removal[edit]

Images were removed by this edit I think they do add considerably to the article. A view of the chapel roof and the reflecting pool give a real sense of what the place is like and are not in any way redundant. Please discuss further removal of images and maybe we can incorporate them further into text on the cemetary. For example the design of the chapel and the relevence of a reflecting pool (such as is used in Washington DC for the Washington monument). I have an interest in the article because my house was adjacent to this cemetary and I am available to take better pictures if needed. Polargeo 2 (talk) 14:54, 28 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Burial numbers[edit]

I've just read through the pdf document available from the ABMC webpage for this cemetery and memorial, and there is lots that can be added, including the following explanation of the burial numbers and headstone numbers: "The 3,809 headstones..." and "Among the headstones are two which represent burials of two and three servicemen, respectively, whose names are known but who could not be separately identified. Their remains are buried together; bronze tables over the graves record their names." This seem to account for the wording used on the main page here, which says "The cemetery contains the remains of 3,812 of our military dead". That would be 3809+1+2=3812. Explaining this might be better than qualifying the number given in our article.

Other information in that pdf includes the inscriptions and a full description of the cemetery and memorial, and the exact dedication date (16 July 1956). Some suggested links, based on the information in that pdf: Portland stone, Perry, Shaw, Hepburn and Dean (seems to be Perry Dean Rogers Architects), Olmsted Brothers (already linked in article), Cheshunt, Waltham Cross, John McCrae, In Flanders Fields, David Kindersley, Herbert Gute (no article), Francis Scott Bradford (no article, but someone of the same name is listed at List of Fellows of the American Academy in Rome 1896 - 1970), Wheeler Williams (already linked in article). Hope that helps. Carcharoth (talk) 02:41, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I add a reference, corrected the wording and added a footnote of explanation. I also added the designers, (before reading the rest of your post, but nice to see confirmation), wikilinked the designers in the info box, and added this site to the pages of the two architectural firms. I see you have other suggestions, I'll try to return to it. BTW, the pdf is deficient in terms of publisher, so I added a note in my edit summary, but that hardly seems sufficient. Not sure how best to handle this, will poke around to see if there is a guideline.--SPhilbrickT 11:45, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates missing.[edit]

This article would benifit from the inclusion of geographic coordinates like other articles about geographic sites. If I knew how, I'd do it, but I don't.--TGC55 (talk) 15:04, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No further action needed as the coordinates were at the top of the page rather than in the info box. Just a different place.--TGC55 (talk) 02:43, 30 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
