Call of Duty: Ghosts will NOT be revealed during Miss USA 2013

Do we have a source on the date where a reveal trailer is scheduled??? And 2 reasons why a Miss USA 2013 reveal is HIGHLY unlikely:

1. June 16 is AFTER E3 2013, where the game is showcased.

2. A network television (in this case, NBC) reveal would be very dubious due to political pressure regarding recent current events (Boston marathon bombings, Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, etc.)

I would not post any dates until official confirmation by Activision. 15:07, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

Bethesda?

The box art, developer, and even the modes (Chivalry co-op) are misleading. That box art is photoshopped. Bethesda is NOT developing this game — Preceding unsigned comment added by Legend6 (talkcontribs) 01:01, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

This article says "With the end of the Modern Warfare Story Arc" and I have not noticed anything that has said that Modern Warfare 3 will be the last Modern Warfare game. Can a citation be added to this? Thanks for consideration.

Partly done: I've looked through the source material in this article, as well as on the CoD:MW3 and CoD pages here on Wikipedia and I see no source to back up that statement. I've removed it for now - if a source can be found, please add it to the article (and possibly other articles) and add this statement back. Thanks! --ElHef (Meep?) 17:26, 9 June 2013 (UTC)

E3 Game play Footage

The first game play footage was broadcasted on 9th June 2013 showing two levels from the single player campaign. http://new.livestream.com/accounts/4195187/events/2151115/videos/21087443

Wii U version

The game is not listed for Wii U on the official website! DanteLectro (talk) 17:47, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Regardless, almost all reliable sources are quoting it as releasing for Wii U: [1] Samwalton9 (talk) 18:00, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Also, at an E3 stage show with GameStop, they confirmed that Wii U version would be a Next Gen version. And, that, they were keeping it mysterious. The page is semi-protected so I can't add this, but someone should add this bit about the Wii U version.

The sources are:

All those same sources posted a redaction later on. I'm deleting the Wii U until this is confirmed 174.49.68.71 (talk) 00:41, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

example : http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/06/call-of-duty-ghosts-may-or-may-not-come-to-wii-u-maybe/

From the source: “Ha! You know that’s funny, because I don’t even know the answer to that,” Rubin told the trade site when they asked about a Wii U version of the next Call of Duty. “I swear to God, I don’t. I was trying to say in the interview [that] I really don’t know and I’m not supposed to talk about it. I’m not supposed to talk about the fact that I don’t know.”

That's absolutely true, seems like quite a few companies are stepping back from statements made at E3. [2] lol. But, this overall debacle is well sourced now, and it warrants mention in the article. Apparently the Wii U version is in marketing limbo. Tyrodesu (talk) 19:36, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

And now the Wii U version is 100% officially confirmed so that is reflected in the article. DarkToonLinkHeyaah! 06:29, 30 July 2013 (UTC)

Free fall bonus map

Is there a need for the details about the bonus map to be covered in both DLC and multiplayer sections? Seems to me that the DLC section isn't really needed. Also I believe that the bonus map is not limited to Gamestop as stated. Amazon is one seller also giving the bonus content http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Ghosts-Xbox-360/dp/B002I098JE — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.73.84.132 (talk) 13:17, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

I have readded 3 times that the Wii U version is not getting Free Fall, and I have a reference http://www.callofduty.com/ghosts/wheretobuy#wiiu. Why does my statement keep getting removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanafan (talkcontribs) 17:13, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Japanese release

Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines#Release dates "Releases in non-English countries should otherwise not be included in the infobox, but if determined to be necessary to include, can be discussed further in the article's body." It is for this reason I removed the Japanese date and publisher from the infobox, but left it in the lead. This isn't actually a guideline I 100% agree with, but that's why I did it. The plot section could do with revision, reads slightly opinionated? Or as if it was written by someone who couldn't find the appropriate wording or means to convey what they wanted to say.

cheers Worstmate (talk) 13:34, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

I've copy edited it somewhat, though I didn't spot anything I'd call "opinionated". If there's anything you still dislike, could you say specifically what, please? (Don't forget to set answered=no in the template above.) --Stfg (talk) 15:14, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

Extinction

Dragonx00x (Dragonx00x)

Call of Duty: Ghost will contain a cooperative (4 players on the xbox one, and xbox 360)(2 players on the ps4, and the ps3) game mode where the player(s) face off against waves of alien horde. This was revealed on 10/28/13 after massive leaks over the internet activation went ahead and posted the reveal trailer that is assumed to be saved for later. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.138.103.243 (talk) 18:09, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Section About Free Fall

Not only does it sound more like an advertisement, but I struggle to understand why it requires it's own section. 2601:8:9380:56C:A085:1D44:8973:C87B (talk) 02:15, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

Yep, it was nearly identical to Activision's description here, hence the reason why it sounded like advertising. I've removed the entire section for now. Someone who has time to put it into their own words can always add it back in later. --GoneIn60 (talk) 02:40, 7 November 2013 (UTC)

PS4 edition released.

In the Wiki, it talks about the release date of the PlayStation 4 edition of the game being released on the 15th of November (currently, next Friday), but it was actually released alongside the current generation consoles, so the game itself for the PS4 has been released and is already available ahead of the release of the PS4. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skywlkrr (talkcontribs) 16:16, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Reception

Should we also at least mention the overwhelmingly poor user ratings on Metacritic? I know user reviews can be quite ridiculous and outright farcical, but it seems to be worth at least a mention, kind of like in Company of Heroes 2. AnnicAllus (Talk) 02:52, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

It's not worth mentioning for the reasons you state. User ratings are not reliable sources, period. Also, an overwhelming majority on Metacritic doesn't tell us anything about how that relates to the general population. We can assume it's representative of the general pop, but that assumption often leads to trouble. In the end, it's just a difficult position to defend. When in doubt, look at "featured" video game articles, such as COD: Modern Warfare, to see what type of information is preferred. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:20, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Metacritic scores alone are self-published works and not considered reliable on their own. The only time when they are used is when reported on by reliable sources in regards a wider controversy. Company of Heroes 2 does do this but is far from a well written, properly cited article but a much better example of its usage would be Portal 2. Without any context, said scores do not reflect any legitimate criticism about just the games themselves. It also can't be seen to how much of the user scores are from actual players (considering some pre-date the official release) and thus cannot be assumed to be in good faith. Stabby Joe (talk) 14:28, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

"Call of Duty: Ghosts received generally positive reviews from critics,"...'Generally positive' is a Metacritic designation. However, it's one that Call of Duty: Ghosts does not appear to have met on any of the platforms it can be purchased on at present.[1] [2] [3]. Seems to me it might be more accurate, if you're using Metacritic designations in the reception section, to go with "Mixed or Average reviews."108.39.247.159 (talk) 00:32, 14 November 2013 (UTC)Random Guy

It's an understandable concern, but I think we're using the appropriate designation. "Generally positive" here is taking into account the scores across the board, from GameRankings and other video game publications, not just Metacritic. 5 out of the 6 scores on GameRankings would fall under "generally positive", and while only 2 out of 5 on Metacritic technically does, one is borderline and the other two would be considered top end of the "mixed or average" spectrum. That's a total of 7 out of 11 with 1 borderline. From the video game publications listed, 15 out of 23 have the equivalent of "generally positive" as well. In the end, it's not so much this one line that counts anyway. It's what we include in prose within the Reception section. So far, it looks like it's pretty balanced. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:01, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Game is set in 2027, except for the ODIN event in 2017

Call of duty ghosts

Hello admins I would appreciate the opportunity to edit call of duty ghosts. I will give perk selection article and map summaries. I will go through and edit bits and pieces of the campaign story and give the new weapon attachments article. Please reply if my access to this :) Ghoststeam217 (talk) 21:04, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Repetition in Multiplayer Section

There is repetition of the map name "Strikezone" in the multiplayer section:

Multiplayer

"Strikezone", "Octane", "Prison Break", "Tremor", "Freight", "Stormfront", "Siege", "Warhawk", "Sovereign", "Overlord", "Flooded", "Strikezone", "Whiteout", "Stonehaven" and "Chasm" are the maps that are in Call of Duty: Ghosts so far.

Please remove this second entry of the same map name. CDN ChaosRayne (talk) 03:33, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Multiplayer modes

Why is there no information about the new game modes in Multiplayer or about Extinction and Squad? Egon Eagle (talk) 09:09, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

I know they were there at one time. I am not sure why they were removed. Chambr (talk) 14:33, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
Looks like it was overwritten during this edit, and then the whole Gameplay section was removed when someone saw that it no longer applied to the article. I'll restore it. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:16, 22 April 2014 (UTC)
